Bed and Breakfast in Amsterdam

Often people ask me where to sleep when visiting Amsterdam ... well this might be a good place to stay: the &Klevering apartment. Right in the city centre and a very authentic and typical Dutch ambiance.

Seeing so many design accessories in this B&B is no surprise as the owners are also the founders of &Klevering, a well-known home decoration shop here in Amsterdam. A visit to Amsterdam is not complete for me with a stop-over in one of their outlets.

The kitchen below is spot on, cool with the wood and green accessories.

Shop stop: P5 in Singapore

If you are wondering where to go for the best design furniture in Singapore how about starting right here at P5. Brands like moroso, e15, artek and royal tichelaar makkum all under one (beautiful) roof.

When I walked in I was happily surprised to see  the vases by Hella Jongerius when I mentioned them to the sales person he was impressed that I recognized them and understood I knew a thing or two about design  so we started chatting... Aloyus, no longer the salesperson, but the owner and founder of this shop, is as passionate about furniture as he is about food ... hopefully soon he will show me around in town and chat about our love for design. P5's address.

Unami in Oakland, California

When opening a brick and mortar shop I would use these images for my inspiration board ... 

They are from pop-up shop Umami Mart. Normally a Japanese food blog and webshop importing speciality and luxurious Japanese kitchen  ware. They were part of Popuphood, an initiative in Oakland (outside San Francisco), giving stores six months free rent in dead areas of town to invoke new life and growth and hopefully allow the new shop owners to sign a long term store lease after the test period. 

The shop was designed by Arhoj.

Shop stop: colonel in Paris

It always starts with the Front and here it already looks amazing, my favorite color blueish grey ... so the rest is probably good too ... what am I talking about... well a shop in Paris called Colonel that I have marked as a must-visit next time I am going to Europe.

In 2010 Isabelle Gilles and Yann Poncelet met each other while sipping cocktails and the rest is history ... a beautiful collection lamps from their own brand and a beautiful brick and mortar shop carrying other great brands like HAY too.

Shopping in Antwerp with Studio Attenzione

I am going shopping with my friend from Antwerp today ... really true, she is one of my best friends here in KL and we need some qualtiy time together as friends ... such a nice coincedance that I just added a new shopping tip from her hometown Antwerp to Bloesem's Travel section ... Atelier SolarShop ... sounds familiar, could be you have read about it before here on Bloesem... but this time Studio Attenzione gave me some a really nice collage of images capturing this shop in it's best possible way.

a trip to d’une île

Not Sure if you are already planning your summer vacation ... believe most of you are covered in snow right now ... and I can only imagine this being a lot of fun ... but if you are longing for somehting warmer then start taking a vritual trip to France with me today ... I just discovered this amazing place in the middle of nowwhere where two former city slickers have gone back to 'the beginnins' ... 

Amsterdam couple Michel Mulder and Sofie Sleumer invite you to visit  their d ’ u n e   î l e ... only an hour and a half away from Paris. Medieval cottages, each interior uniquely designed, exquisite food and beverages and the soothing simplicity of nature.
