Based in North Carolina, Arrow + Sage was founded by Anna Eaves, the brain, muscles and heart behind the brand. Her creations are inspired by how she grew up, simple and surrounded by nature. Each of her piece is also handmade, one-of-a-kind, and brings out her lifetime background in fine art.

In March last year, Jurianne Matter was one of the very first teachers to kick off Bloesem classes. She came all the way to Singapore from the Netherlands and taught us along with many other eager students how we can Decorate Like a Pro! Everything was so fresh and new and it could not have been a better idea to start the classes off with a friend and of course a designer that I admire. We had such a good time and it really marked a great beginning for the classes!
As an extra special present, while she was here, Jurianne gifted me with one of the two prototypes she had made for her line of ceramic cups, the Ode cup! (All images here except for the last one are taken of the prototype.) What an honour to have been able to already see this beauty before anyone else and I was very excited to see what everyone's reaction would be to the finished product. Finally the cups have arrived.. and want to cheers everyone to this gorgeous line of ceramic cups.
After falling head over heels for a teapot she found in Denmark by Jens Harald Quistgaard, Jurianne Matter's designed her latest range of ceramic cups as an ode to one of her favourite designers from the 50s and 60s.
With it's iconic embossed pattern and tapered shape, the Ode cup comes in 4 colours and is the perfect tea time companion, keeping your hot beverage toasty.
We have always been big fans of Jurianne's work with paper and we have as quickly fallen for her tea towels and ceramic cups. She's currently at ShowUP, a tradeshow for home products and gifts.
Is there a better way to honour a design idol than to create something so beautiful to share with the world?
All the images above are taken of the prototype so keep in mind that Jurianne has made several improvments to it .. And below are the final products! In 4 great colour ways.. The cups will be ready in 5 weeks but for now you may check out if they have any up for grabs at Studio de Winkel.
Last image of the final product is by Jurianne Matter, all other images of the prototype are by Bloesem.

"Less is More" - I think everyone is familiar with this saying. This is also the philosophy behind Saniyo. Their aim is to design simple, socially responsible and functional pieces for everyone to enjoy.
Their first collection "Gathering" is a partyware set that includes cups, plates and even a nested condiment set. Taking inspiration from the solar system, they wish to remind users that as humans we are part of something bigger, the universe. Remember that in this big world with so many things and people and animals, we should cherish the ones nearest and dearest to us - family and friends.
We thinks that a great reason to have a party, don't you? Celebrate life, everyday!

When we talk about Food Styling, we think starting off with something simple is always best. Paper and Clay is exactly what we need.. Handmade by Brit McDaniel (this is a one-woman show!), Paper and Clay is a small batch ceramics line based in Memphis.
We love the simplicity in the designs, and of course the styling in the shots just help to sell it that much more. Just shows how important pictures are.. and of course we can't get enough of the dip-dye action.

To us, Paloma's nest is the epitome of thoughtful and precious personalised gifts. A great place to get custom made items for those special moments in one's life. How beautiful would a Ring bearer bowl with a quote that was significant to the couple be! Their newest addition, Custom ceramic portrait is such a great alternative to photographs which can be passed down for generations to come..

If you have not heard, we recently published the second issue of the Bloesem Gazette, this time it came along with an online version - the Bloesem e-Gazette!
Here's a sneak peek to one of our favourite articles in the latest Bloesem e-Gazette (click here to download it). Irene shares her love of ceramics with us in this article, introducing us to some of the big names in ceramics and letting us in on how she goes about collecting all the beautiful pieces we have seen both on the blogs and her instagram.

I have always been attracted to vintage ceramics. It combines all the things I like about design: prints, colours, illustrations and functionality. Not that I know much about the technique used in producing tableware, porcelain or ceramics in general. My only criteria is whether I think a particular piece is beautiful!
The variety in vintage ceramics is overwhelming, and the jargon can be confusing. I simply use the generic name ‘ceramics’ for all items made out of clay (or similar materials, if that is even possible). My own collection of vintage ceramics started out rather modest, consisting only of a few pieces I found at flea markets and garage sales on trips back to the Netherlands. But over the past few years, these humble beginnings are indeed a thing of the past and I am proud to say that I have managed to collect (or amass one might say) some great pieces.
Some of my new vintage finds from the Netherlands (including the ones shown here) are on sale in Bloesem Shop, if I can tempt you to drop by and have a look! Truth be told, collecting genuine vintage ceramics requires quite a bit of luck and persistence, in addition to a skilful eye. A collector-to-be must have a knack for patiently and relentlessly browsing through thrift stores in search of the holy (ceramic) grail. Ignoring raised eyebrows and funny looks while turning and examining every piece of ceramics, hoping to spot that cherished mark or logo!
Once you start searching for ceramics it is easy to get lost, it is a collectors’ heaven for sure.
Scandinavian and Dutch pieces are my true passion, so naturally my focus has been on designs from these regions. And the images you see in this Gazette are from my Nordic collection. Vintage ceramics are great pieces to add to your home to give the decor a personal and unique touch, creating your own personal museum. One iconic piece mixed in with some more modern pieces can make a world of difference. Use beautifully illustrated ceramics as centerpieces for your table, to give a little life and character to the space. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the world of ceramics. There are so many beautiful designs out there I just know you will have a great time looking out for the perfect ones!
