Class Alert: Modern Handwriting Class
A twist on classic calligraphy, modern handwriting is a huge trend on Instagram, Pinterest and basically every corner of the internet. We see quotes written in modern handwriting everywhere, it's also used in campaigns for many companies and even as decoration in shop windows. We can't help it, it's gorgeous! And you can do it too.
It's about your own handwriting! We will be having Josselin Bijl, illustrator and hand letterer from the Netherlands, coming down to show us how she creates her beautiful lettering and help us all expand our repertoire of writing skills. She will work with you to make the most out of your own unique and individual handwriting.. It's not about replicating someone else's style, let's embrace our own style and make it as beautiful as it can be. There's no right or wrong when it comes to our handwriting... Josseling 'll help you to kickstart your journey to writing beautiful lettering by showing you the different techniques, the perfect tools to use and give you a little push, because we know you have it in you ;)

About Josseling Bijl Josselin’s interest for handwriting is not something she learned for very long but through the years. She finished her study at the AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute), where she learned Fashion Design, photography and illustration. She now works as a freelance creative for several magazines (like Libelle, Flair, Marie Claire and Amayzine.com) and as a lifestyle-editor, stylist and illustrator for books (Smaak van de Vecht, Project Prep and Come in we’re open Ibiza). Josselin loves experimenting with different inks and methods, but always stays true to her own style; personal, fashion and handmade, and that’s a thing you will see in her work too.
What's Included 3 fun hours of learning a new skill and enjoying delicious food and drinks in our Bloesem studio. Open to beginners, the workshop will cover a demonstration of modern handwriting techniques by Josselin, sufficient time for you to practice strokes and lettering, plenty of feedback and one-on-one help from the teacher. You will receive a handwriting starter kit that you will use in class and is yours to take home together with your writing creations! It will be a great time of developing your own lettering style and mastering your brushstroke skills in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

Yes it is time for another class semester. Reminds us of the times we were in school and would eagerly look at which classes and teachers we had been allocated.. the difference is this time it is so much more enjoyable! You get to choose your classes and even your teachers! And of course there's still recess time with much yummier snacks.
Overall Bloesem class is way better than going to school (we might be biased), for one it's like going to school and only having to attend your favourite class. Plus no heavy backpacks.. This semester we have brought back the best of the best, the hot favourites, the cool kids if you will - your favourite classes!

Along with the class in Amsterdam we announced a giveaway in collaboration with Viamartine. The best photograph taken during the class would receive a poster of their instagram shots from Viamartine and we are happy to finally announce the winner is Suzanne!
Thank you Martine for your generous prize for our Bloesem class student, we hope it motivates everyone to keep going with all the new skills they picked up during the class.
Of course there were so many beautiful shots to choose from and it was quite a challenge just picking one but Trisha Toh and the Bloesem team had a great time looking through the images.. there is so much potential!
Here is a little recap of some scenes from the class. Our favourite time to snap away is when our students are fully focused on getting the shot!
Even Vera from Cousine catering, who did the catering for the class, was getting in on the food photography action.. you can't help it.. you just want to join in!

Class Alert: Master your DSLR camera

Are you ready to take your DSLR photography skills to the next level? We have invited photographer and author, Jennifer Young, from California to teach you all of the basics to help you to learn your way around your camera. The class will cover different camera types and brands, camera settings (iso, aperture, shutter speed, etc.), lenses, as well as valuable techniques and tips for taking professional-looking images. Jennifer will also share with you stylistic and compositional tricks to help you style and take the perfect shot with the equipment you've got! You will learn the skills to make your photos stand out in a competitive and ever evolving social media world, proving that you don't need to (or hire) a professional stylist or photographer to have stunning and unique images. If you're interested in taking better photos for your creative work, business, or just personal leisure, this is the class for you!

We'll also make sure that our tummies are satisfied with yummy refreshments to feast on. At the end of the class you will also receive a professional portrait taken by Jennifer and a booklet summarising all you have learnt during the class. Do you fancy handwritten calligraphy quotes that are trending on Instagram or Pinterest? Want to learn this amazing skill but fear that your handwriting just does not make the mark? Well, in this new class we will give you the right tools and skills to kickstart your journey to writing beautiful strokes and lettering even if you think that you have barely legible handwriting. And to top off the modern sophistication of calligraphy, this very unique Bloesem Class will teach you how to work with gold foil elements to give your lettering a lush and festive look!
Join us for a morning of learning the skill of modern calligraphy and gold leaf application with teacher, Veronica Halim. Truly for beginners, Veronica will go over the basics of calligraphy including assembling your pen, dipping your pen nib in ink, holding your pen at the right angle, applying pressure for different stroke thicknesses, as well as tracing basic lower case alphabets and capital letters. You will also learn gold leaf application techniques to give your lettering a pop of metallic golf foil! With all these basics at your fingertips, you will then learn to write your name or a favourite quote to design your very own print! We are very sure that after this class, you will be adding sweet and personal touches to birthday wishes, wedding invites, scrapbooks, notes and more! Having taught many workshops in Indonesia, Veronica is the perfect person to learn this art from.
