Bright and early last saturday we were up and at em' over at the Bosch experience centre in preparation for our 10 am Food styling and mobile photography class in collaboration with the good folks over at Bosch. With the launch of their latest series 6 ovens, we thought what better excuse to come together with some baked goods, cameras and foodies to learn to make better food shots.
Despite the early start and hazy conditions, our students came ready with questions and their creative juices flowing and we couldn't be more excited to start the class. We also had Chef John See, a Bosch ambassador and a pro at Bosch's Series 8 ovens to show us the ropes in the kitchen. He prepared some tasty brunch foods for us to snap away.
We started the class with some camera and styling tips and the students got to have some hands-on experience styling and capturing their own shots. Every class is a new chance to learn more, for both the students and ourselves as teachers. The students always share their favourite apps to edit photos and we always find out about something new to try out. Of course we also share our favourite apps and some tricks that are close to magical when it comes to editing images. Technology oh how amazing you are!

With the ongoing haze in Singapore, we wanted to give our students a little morning boost of vitamins with some freshly pressed FP juices. Juice of the day: Spicy Tonic!
The Series 8 ovens stole the show as expected. They blow us away everytime. Baking never seemed so easy, of course Chef John See also does things so swiftly we all think maybe just maybe we can recreate it ourselves at home, without any supervision too.

Still Sexy at 50.. first of all we love the title DREAM came up with for their latest campaign that celebrates the golden anniversary for Italian manufacture and the masters of 20th century design. The Still Sexy at 50 campaign highlights the timeless appeal of Cassina's LC50 Collection.. with the company manufacturing and producing furniture pieces by the legendary architect and designer Le Corbusier for the last 50 years.
We visited the DREAM showroom to view the Cassina collection (isn't it the best way to really appreciate the pieces? You just have to see them in real life..) and it was almost like walking through a museum.. with all the beautiful pieces showcased and on the walls you can even see a timeline of iconic Cassina pieces along the years.
For those who are not familiar with Cassina, it was established in 1927 in Milan by Cesare and Umberto Cassina and was key in the launch of industrial design in Italy. The company's ability to bring together architects and designers of different sensibilities and styles allows for them to draw out the best, resulting in the quality and uniqueness recognisable in every Cassina piece. The company boasts a wide range of furniture from chairs to beds, upholstered items and even collaborates with the most important Italian and international designers and architects, from Mario Bellini to Philippe Starck.
I love what they did in the campaign, capturing Cassina pieces along side vibrant and charming golden-agers coming from all walks of life. The hand-picked Cassina pieces perfectly complement the lifestyle of the featured personalities who are performing hobbies or crafts which are enjoyed by people of all ages.. 50, sexy and so relevant.. captures the timelessness and appeal of the Cassina pieces completely. Amazing how what was young and fresh then remains so even 50 years on!

Ahoy dear readers! You might have noticed that we have been rather quiet over the past week. We promise we did not forget about you guys.. we were actually working on some pretty exciting upcoming projects and the time has come for us to show you what we have been working on behind-the-scenes! Starting this monday, on top of our usual "Quickstart" column, we are proud to present to you our new "Bloesem blooms " column where we share our latest projects a.k.a blooms from the main Bloesem branch with you!
Other than styling, snapping images and writing for the Bloesem blogs, we have been working more and more with different brands to do design work for another client other than ourselves! It's always fun to create your own content but this new path we are on, creating content for other brands, is very fulfilling and keeps us challenged and creative.
For the past few months we have been working with local juice brand, FP juice. Long before this project came around, the Bloesem team were already fans of their delicious and healthy juices .. and found it to be a very natural (no pun intended) fit when this project came along. We've spent the last few months styling and shooting images for a refreshed look for the label.. with these new images featured across their social media platforms and website.
This week I will be doing a Bloesem take-over of the FP Juice instagram account! Looking forward to sharing what we have done with not only Bloesem readers but also the Fresh Press followers, so make sure to follow along. The Bloesem team has learnt so much on this journey, things about detox and the true benefits of all the fruits and vegetables available to us. Especially with the ongoing haze Singapore is experiencing, there is no better time than now to make sure our immunities are boosted and that we are only consuming the best to stay healthy in this climate.

.. Hire Bloesem for a project

While I was living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia a few years back, during my trips to Singapore I would always make a trip down to the beautiful DREAM showroom along River Valley Road. I even collaborated with Design Milk in the past to write a report about DREAM. So it seems that it has come full circle now that I will be working together with one of my favourite shops here. A gorgeous showroom to walk into, you can find alot of contemporary designs there. I really enjoy that they carry brands like Autoban but also more new and emerging designers, such as accessories from smaller brands like Ladies and Gentleman.
I have shared a few images on Instagram of the new black and white home that now houses my family as well as the Bloesem studio.. this space keep evolving and changing as everyone in the family and studio gets settled in. Furniture pieces are constantly being moved around but the time came recently to add a new piece to the redecorated Bloesem office space so the first and most obvious choice was to start with a nice table to work on. As the Bloesem team is currently in collaboration with DREAM, I thought it would be nice to work from one of the tables they carried.
So I welcomed this black marble beauty from Knoll into the space.. and what a beauty it is! Marble is truly having it's moment now and in this black colour it is simply stunning.. great for impromptu prop photoshoots as well. What can I say, marble is just the perfect backdrop for getting creative.
I am extremely happy that a design blog like Bloesem can work with a company like DREAM that shares the same passion for contemporary design and exquisitely-designed furniture like the Bloesem team. It is definitely a dream come true, no pun intended.
In the following months leading up to Christmas, look forward to our Tuesday Tales with DREAM. Bloesem will be working closely with DREAM to organize a few events, more interior design related posts and even designing our very first window display. We'll also be going more in-depth into designers.
We are eager to start on this new creative journey and we'll be bringing you along for the ride! Every tuesday we'll be sharing something new in our collaboration with DREAM, whether it's interior styling, designer features or even event invites (stay tuned!), we promise a design-centric fun time! Hopefully you'll get to see the rest of the finished new Bloesem home very soon too!

For the past few months, the Bloesem Team has been working on a very exciting collaboration with a beloved brand. I've been using Bosch products for years at home and when the opportunity came to work together, of course I was in! In the coming months we will be working together with Bosch for a few very exciting projects and of course you can be along for the ride..
Next week Bloesem will be hosting - a food styling class in Bosch's experience centre in Singapore -. Equipped with all the latest technology and everything you'll need to create a delectable meal, we will be teaching students how they can take their meals from oven to table and take great photos of their handy work.
A few months ago we attended the launch of Bosch's series 8 ovens (you may have seen this on instagram) and we were blown away. I think no other series of ovens has had a more grand welcome party. The event took place in a airplane hanger and the ovens arrived on a plane! There were also presentations with chefs showing us the different functions of the oven. This revolutionary oven might can help anyone make a gourmet meal.. it even has a function that will help you achieve the perfect bake which also means cakes, roasts and many more yumminess to look forward to. Even if you're not one to be found in the kitchen normally, this oven will change your mind.
My team and I can't wait to bake up a storm and create some beautiful imagery with our students next week.. it's going to be hard to resistance eating our subjects before photographing them but we'll try our best so that we can have some great photos at the end before we dig into the meal!
