We are big fans of photography focusing on shadows and lights.. Sophia is a vancouver-based photographer and her use of natural lighting and elements such as plants and flowers gives us that warm feeling inside.. like lounging out in the sun during summer, a sense of calm on the inside and a nice tan going on on the outside..

Delicate yet full of character.. this collectible vase collection, Ruutu, is mouth blown by designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. These vases may look simple in shape, but the hard work that goes behind creating these watercolour-like beauties is what caught our admiration. Beware, this fun fact will amaze you too.. each vase takes seven most skilled craftsmen 24 hours to produce! Indeed, this takes true dedication towards ones' craft to be able to achieve such masterpieces. Apart from being just stand alone pieces of art, the designers also hand the job of the artist over to the users themselves who will be able to create his or her own individual landscape with the different sizes and colours of vases.
Ruutu, which means diamond or square in Finnish, takes a special meaning in this collection. For those who are not familiar with glass-blowing, glass is a material that likes round shapes making it very difficult to achieve precise geometric shapes. So the next time you see a glass vase in strict shapes, take a little moment to appreciate the hard work of the crafters behind them!

Continuing on from our post about our 24 hours in Bangkok .. After hearing many rave reviews about Tenface we decided to go ahead and book our accommodations.. we were definitely not disappointed. Friendly staff, clean hotel.. it had a really quirky vibe with hanging decor and animals along the hallways.
The hotel has a lot of facilities for guests who like to spend their time lounging in the hotel.. you can use the gym, pool, there's even a bar area. It's not a big hotel but it's nice and cosy, perfect for travellers who appreciate design and for people looking for accommodation during a short stay.

You enter the hotel through the basement and have to take a lift to the first floor where you can check-it. It is the same floor where you can find all the amenities and it's also where you go in the morning for breakfast. Everything you need can be found on this floor of the hotel, which makes it incredibly convenient.
Tenface is located a distance away from the main road. You have to drive or walk a short distance through a back alley to get to the hotel, but the walk is an enjoyable one as you will pass restaurants and a gallery that had illustrations on its facade. Pretty interesting sights to stroll pass on your way back. Though the alley does get kind of dark in the night and we would suggest walking in pairs or taking transport back. Tuk tuk is always a great option - fast and affordable!
