Class Alert: Shibori Dyeing class with Arounna from Bookhou
After countless students have told us that they have missed our classes, we are announcing our next Bloesem class almost a full two months ahead of time! We are pleased as punch to be having Arounna Khnounnoraj, half of the duo behind Bookhou, come from Canada to teach us the ways of Shibori dyeing. (Remember she will only be in town for a short while, this is not a class that will be repeated soon, so don't miss your chance!)
Many of you are already familiar with Arounna's work. Her bags, pouches and many other homewares and accesories under the label Bookhou are handmade beautifully and sell like hotcakes in the Bloesem store!
If you are drawn to patterns and fabrics, may we suggest adding some Shibori dying techniques to your skills with this new making class. Shibori is everywhere! It’s the new pattern for 2014 - 2015 and now you can learn how to make it too. We are already in love with this Japanese dyeing technique which dates back to the 8th century.
So spice up your wardrobe this season and learn how to make your own Shibori scarf and tote. Instead of throwing away that old plain top, maybe give it a make over with some Shibori!

The following images are some indigo inspiration we found while excitedly looking through shibori ideas online.
The possibility of re-inventing our wardrobe in a million ways, as seen on Park & Cube.
The price of the workshop covers 3 hours of learning and creating your very own scarf and 1 tote bag with Shibori patterns, plus an extra goodie bag to continue working on more patterns at home! Accompanied with delicious food and drinks, it will be a great time to get your fingers dirty and engage with others who love hands-on experiences just as much as you.
Arounna will teach you the different techniques of sewing, tying and clamping fabrics to create “resist” areas where the distinctive Indigo dye will not be absorbed resulting in beautiful patterns your eyes will not believe.

We love how instagram is a community of friends, and making friends via this platform is so easy! It's great seeing a bunch of creative friends sharing their crafts and things they do during the day together, each with their own take on the moment. That's how instagram sucks away all your time, and also how I found Melissa's gorgeous feed - you find one amazing instagram account and somehow from their you are connected to that persons group of equally talented friends, and there goes 3 hours. On that note, get back to work! (after you are done reading this post :)

Home accessories like cushions can help bring a little sunshine into your home. Whether it's a cushion with a bright color or a pattern, all you have to do is find a style you enjoy. For us, we found these screen printed Bococo cushions.
The patterns are reminiscent traditional patterns and designs of textiles but with a contempary method such as screen printing, the cushion has a fresh look! They come in a variety of colors - the nudes and black and white ones are easy to match and neutral, while the bright colors like blue and yellow remind us that it's Summer time!

Bococo also has a range of handwoven cushions and tote bags with similar prints. All made with a similar high quality and attention to detail.

Last week we shared the online store I wait here , which we can all safely say, the Bloesem team has fallen head over heels with. Especially how they have featured the beautiful collection from Tas-ka.
The patterns, the designs, Tas-ka has really outdone themselves in the area of homewares and kitchen accessories. If you think their products are impressive, have a look at their brick and mortar store, images that have pinned over and over again on pinterest.
We couldn't resist giving styling and photographing the Tas-ka products a shot ourselves.. so here (2 images below) is the result..
