G:: German is... holidays spent at my grandparents tiny little Hansel &Gretel house at the edge of the forest in Augsburg.

E:: entrance, when entering my home you will notice ... color everywhere, I've given up trying to tone down!

R:: room, my favorite room in our home is... my lovely sunny studio, its so girly! a haven away from all things masculine!

 

M:: making... DIY projects i have done or like to do are… recovering mid century furniture especially bargain items like my chairs that I bought for $2 each.

A:: art in my homes is... mostly my own work framed in recyled frames  it's so much cheeper!

N:: new in my home is... hardly anything! Thank goodness. I do however draw the line at appliances, I love our new fridge!

H:: hobby, I always make time for... baking once a week, my family looks forward to my sweet creations! Scouring my local second hand stores, it's always such a thrill to find a new treasure to add to my collection!

O:: outfit, my favorite thing to wear are... my bright red canvas sneakers, I had some as a child so they make me feel young!

M:: magazines I love to read are... Elle Decoration, Inside Out, Living Etc. being far away from Europe etc I enjoy checking that we are not getting behind when it comes to style!!I love your blog for that too!

E:: enjoy, I can't live without... the simplest of things, kisses from my boys, walks along the coast and in the bush, watching the native birds in the garden, freshly ground coffee, joking around with my husband, beautiful colours,  exchanging creative ideas with my girlfriends, creating a piece of work that makes my heart sing…

Ellen Giggenbach was born in Bavaria in Germany and now lives and creates in the village of Eastbourne in Wellington, New Zealand. I believe she madly in love with all patterns and shapes coming from the 1950's, 60's ... she uses this time period as inspiration for her own pieces of art, illustrations, packing designs and home accessories. I love to see how her German or should I say Bavarian roots shine through in her designs too.
