BGuest_YOPMuseum
... well I'm not a guest of course, but I thought after inviting so many other people to show us their favorite design pieces in their houses I thought it was only fair if I show you some of mine too ...
FD_Chair_irene_2
Well there are two corners in our apartment that I really love ... the first one is a the place were this vintage Danish chair and Noguchi lamp stands my husband and I bought the chair in a great shop in Toronto called Bungalow ... we didn't buy the chair because of the gorgeous cushions, in fact the cushions were horrible, but we bought it because of the fantastic wooden frame
FD_Chair_irene
of course we brought the chair with us to Kuala Lumpur and finally had it re-upholstered here in KL, I chose this light grey wool from Kvadrat and am very happy with the result ... the little logo makes us assume that the chair is an original from France&Sons from Denmark, but if anybody recognizes the logo and thinks differently please let us know ... and the pillow was made by me using my Gocco print on the linen ...
Bloesem

The other corner I always enjoy looking at is in our very small entrance ... luckily for us we don't need a coat-hanger, the weather is always beautiful here so no hats, coats, scarfs or other items and the shoes are always waiting outside ... the cabinet was also bought at Bungalow in Toronto, the lamp was a birthday present for my husband last May, the fantastic table lamp 'Coupe' from Joe Colombo for O Luce ... the print on the wall is from AshleyG and the fantastic handmade mobile is from X&L, look under archive to find it, ... i hope you like my little corners too...

Mollie Dash

Molliedash

...hi it's me again, Irene ... after a fun day re-decorating our apartment yesterday it's nice to be back on Bloesem today with some fantastic jewelry. I know I don't write about jewelry very often but when jewelry look like little art pieces I like to show them ... Mollie Dash is the designer and maker of these one of a kind pieces. Mollie lives in Brooklyn and she loves to combine the old with the new ... like these gorgeous coins earrings ... the "half anna" coins were brought back from India by Mollie's mom's aunt minnie, who served as a nurse there during WW1 ... Mollie used the coins for the bracelet by mixing them with sterling chains, and hung on sterling ear wires.... every piece from Mollie's collection has a little story ... her shop is right here and her blog here...

my husband writes...

Irene asked me to write a few lines today as a (one time only) guestblogger... my name is Rik and Irene is my wife... and although I write for a living (I am a lawyer)... writing a post is quite different... so you will  have to forgive me... why couldn't Irene write today? There are a few reasons... today is a public holiday in Malaysia... Deepavali...or festival of lights... but most importantly she has been very busy getting the house ready for our families who will be visiting  during November and December... inevitably this meant moving around all furniture...heavy lifting of some of our contemporary collectibles... we both share a passion for the 50's/60's era...but still looking to find an original Stag design...

Johnsylviareid_stag {Vintage chest of drawers by John and Sylvia Reid for Stag}

Already a few months ago I was reading about Stag in Elle Decoration UK... a Nottingham based company... manufacturing the designs of John and Sylvia Reid..Sylvia Reid worked for Robin Day... see anyhing familiar in these designs? John & Sylvia designed some great pieces... but are hard to come by it seems (particularly in KL as you might imagine...), I especially like this teak veneer cabinet...Robinday_Hille

More pieces that are high on our wishlist are these classic pieces by Robin Day for Hille...simple and sleek... truly great design...Lucienneday
And I'm sure these fabrics would Irene make very very happy ... beautiful classics...fabrics by Lucienne Day...collectors' items for sure...

Jan reporting from Vancouver

Vancouver   I'm very happy that my dear blog friend Jan from the great blog PoppyTalk is giving us a report from her hometown, Vancouver ... when we were living in Canada (Toronto) often people told us to visit Vancouver, supposedly one of the most beautiful cities of Northern America .. but unfortunately due to student budgets, Vancouver was still way to far from us from Toronto ... so hopefully one day we will be able to visit and of course this design guide will come with us ... click here for the report ... thanks Jan and I wish everybody a wonderful weekend!
