Afpelbehang = Peel-off wallpaper...

Friday, 2 February 2007 by Irene Hoofs

{just felt I had to write about this amazing design by Eefje in English}
...sounds counter intuitive? Eefje Halters would disagree. Eefje recently graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven. Her designs are truly amazing and innovative.  The peeling-off wallpaper or Afpelbehang is composed of thin layers of brightly colored paper covered by a dark brown or white surface layer. Peel-off a little piece every day and be surprised by beautiful colors and flowers that are uncovered. Eefje says peeling-off wallpaper is like gardening. Your wallpaper will grow and blossom, changing with the seasons.  I absolutely love this idea!  Email Eefje to order your vertical paper garden.

Going for a long walk…I had never heard of a ‘Pelgrimsnoot’, but Eefje Halters tells us it is a small object that pilgrims used to carry with them on their long journeys. A small reminder of home, the past or adventures. Eefje designed a contemporary version of this ancient artifact. Little boxes of fragrant wood. Never leave home without it!

Thank you for all your nice comments this week. Have great weekend, I will be back on Monday!
