Hello, it's very nice meeting you. My name is Irene Hoofs and I'm the founder and editor of the Bloesem blogs.
Bloesem Living is where I garner and share ideas for design, for leisurely pursuits, for creating soul-soothing interiors, for love of the handmade, for vintage appreciation and for the art of traveling. My vision is to be an online reference where readers come to, as a resource for beauty and imagination, in a moment of repose and relaxation.
I created Bloesem in December 2006. Leaving my hometown Amsterdam for the first time in 1997, I have enjoyed roaming the globe for a couple of years making stop overs in London, New York, Toronto and Kuala Lumpur.
As a graphic designer, I sold my work through BARNEYS NY and Selfridges&co. Today I live in Singapore with my husband Rik and our two sons, Lode and Kiet.
From my home office overlooking a bamboo garden, I aspire to bring outside-the-mainstream daily finds to you my dear readers, with a slight bias for Dutch design. {ps. and yes I Tweet too}
Zara S. is a passionate instagrammer and recent graduate from NUS Division of Industrial Design in Singapore.
After spending too much of her time in university on youtube and reading blogs, she found her through passion in social media.
Her other interests include photography, styling and DIY. She also likes singing, though she would refute this fact :)
Bloesem is very happy to have her as a member of the team and enjoys her enthusiastic approach to work, her beautiful sense of style and her pins for Bloesem's pinterest board.
Mei Kwee Chong is the newest member of Bloesem. A recent graduate from NUS Division of Communications and New Media, she lives and breathes social media both in and out of school.
Apart from managing Bloesem's social media platforms, she helps out in the organization of creative classes and maintenance of Bloesem's online shop.
She also has a passion in layout design and spends her free time scrap-booking and cafe-hopping.
Bloesem’s baby is called Bloesem Kids. Also a blog founded by Irene Hoofs, BloesemKids is a truly delightful reference of abundant treats for kids.
Design-conscious parents revel in the daily updates which include finds, crafting, cooking, fashion and occasional book reviews by Irene and other guest writers.
Bloesem Kids won a #BeastBest award from Newsweek in 2013 in the Parenting category!
Bloesem Kids was ranked numerous times on Babble.com in different categories.
Bloesem Wear : my new handmade jewelry collection combines my passion for crafts, pearls, gems and colors.
All jewelry is handmade by me personally using original materials. Staying true to my own style and taste, the collection is understated, delicate and has a soft, almost fragile, feel to it.
Genuine 9.25 silver, gold-filled beads and closings and semi-precious stones create timeless pieces that will last. I try creating the necklaces with a great eye for detail, finishing and choice of threads.
