String shelving systems

For a long time now I have a BIG crush on the shelving systems from String! In 1949 Swedish architect Nils Strinning designed this 'simple' construction of powder coated steel frames on which wooden elements hang. It's timeless, very functional and makes all your books and precious things look more beautiful. {Image above is from City-furniture and below if from Elisabeth Dunker's home}

While visiting Singapore last month I finally found a shop that sells the String shelves here in Asia... it's called Style Nordic on Ann Siang Road, one of the nicest streets in Singapore by the way… of course online there is a lot to find about String shelves…vintage ones and new ones are available throughout the web...

Some bright inspiration for you today from the Netherlands...Club Geluk or Club Lucky or the Happy Club... founder and maker of all these nice goodies is Marieke Voorsluijs and her new bold and colorful collection looks so cheerful...and I have to mention that I believe her pillow covers are so very reasonable priced!

I'm truly honored that KStudio has become a sponsor of Bloesem...I've been a long-time admirer of their work. I think it was over at 2Modern that I saw the beautiful KStudio embroidered pillows for the first time. Tallos is the name of the pattern in the images above, I'm not really sure whether you can actually buy ths as wallpaper, but I do know it's available as a cushion, right here...

Retro Villa

while scrolling through BoligLiv's website this morning I bumped into Retro Villa a wonderful online world packed with retro wallpaper, homemade papered furniture, patchwork bedspreads, colorful cushions and many more colorful items to bring cheer and joy into your home. Mette Helena Rasmussen is the founder of Retro Villa and she also works as a freelance interior stylist.

... i always do some research on the net and see if other blogs talked about retrovilla before and yes of course Holly has done a very nice write-up about RetroVilla too...

 

Dutch photographer Marjon Hoogervorst

Last weekend I spoke (well emailed) with Dutch photographer Marjon Hoogervorst about her beautiful images from her collection 'spaces' ... I particularly liked this image above, because my husband and I often discuss the possibility of placing different Persian rugs next to each other... the first time we saw this was of course in the home of Charles and Ray Eames, I'm not sure this is the way I would do it, but the image does convince me how nice it can look!

Marjon Hoogervorst is one of those talented photographers who creates and produces her own shoots, she works independently and is always searching for nice places ...if you know a house that Marjon should come and photograph please send her an email, she will be in The Dutch Antilles soon, so if anyone know a beautiful house on one of the gorgeous islands :) ...most her productions are for sale online right here...
