BloesemKids is live!

BloesemKids is open! Just about a year ago I wrote a similar line for Bloesem, the beginning of a rollercoaster year…both for me and my family…just moved to Toronto but already making plans to move to Asia….starting my own design blog…as I am sure I told you before…Bloesem brought together all my passions and is very much a part of who I am…ever since launching Bloesem…and just having become a mom myself…the idea of devoting a special blog to kids started to develop…I wasn’t quite sure yet what it should look like or the contents…just that it should be about cool stuff for kids…not a laundry list of products you can buy for your kids…but more like a carefully put together selection…cherry picking…among everything that is available which can be quite overwhelming sometimes…so B:Kids will set out to do just that…help you navigate and give inspiration….of course totally influenced by my own taste and ideas….

I am hoping that B:Kids will be the first thing on your mind when looking for an original gift for your friend’s first baby or just to browse… and day dream about redecorating your childs room…B:Kids should be a fun and colorful place to spend some on-line time…for me B:Kids will also very much be a learning experience… only having been a mom for just over a year… there is so much more to explore…and enjoy where it comes to kids’ products… and rest assure the posts on B:Kids will not be as longwinded as this one…but rather short introductions and some quick thoughts…so more space for beautiful images!

Needless to say…this Bloesem will of course continue…so Monday it will be business as usual so please come back for some great posts just before Christmas!

{Designer clothing for kids by Buisjes&Beugels+++}
With the shopping season in mind I thought I write about some great children clothing brands today. I always think that clothes makes such a nice gift (…i know it is a little bit boring for the children, they rather see some real toys) but as a mother I truly appreciate it when my mom sends over some beautiful t-shirts for Lode and I wouldn’t mind receiving one piece of the great childrens collection by Buisjes&Beugels from the Netherlands.

Or how about giving one of these handknitted pieces by Angelique Roelofsen from her label BENK.

Bookhou for real

Hello everybody, a new week for all of us and looks like a very exciting one for me anyway...coming Friday I will be going on a 4-day trip to Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam...with three wonderful women I recently met... the trip will only be about shopping, relaxing and trying to find great new places...I'm hoping to make beautiful pictures and show them on Bloesem in a new weekend read.

On Saturday I received a beautiful package from Arouna at Bookhou with some of their lovely products. I think the dye cut felt trivet looks perfect on our own coffee table (right image), love the shape, feels soft and is very functional as well... truly a nice and original gift for the Holiday Season.

And how about this beautiful handmade pillow and rabbit t-shirt. Sorry for the vaque images... they don't do justice to the real products... Lode was so happy with his new t-shirt that he walked around with it all day. The image of the rabbit is so appealing to him and he wants to cuddle it all the time.. very funny! {Thank you Arounna, John and Liam!}

I was searching for some furniture for Lode's room (my little son) and when I saw the yellow one, I knew this is the one...such a bright color and the shape is so beautiful. I also like the brown vintage looking one, but he has to be a little bit older for that one. Both chairs are available at Little Fashion Gallery.

Hello Weekend!

Hi Blogland, It’s been a very busy week for me at Bloesem.  It is great seeing all the new designs that were sent to me over the last few days and finding others through the internet and the magazines. I would like to finish this week by showing you six artists and their studio's, who all create and sell items which I have added to my wishlist.... Enjoy and hope to see you back on Monday!

Just some images from a beautiful brick and mortar store in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Emi is is the owner of Coucou, a decoration store, in Palermo, according to Emi the coolest neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Coucou sells restored and new furniture, lamps, cushions, tablecloth, vases, notebooks, laptop covers, etc. I thought I show you Coucou for some wonderful inspiration. These are the most beautiful handpainted stones I have ever seen. I found them on blog Julia Likes and it appears that Julia’s fiancé Yoran is the painter of these stones. Yoran is actually a landscape designer and they both live in the South of France. You can order the stones online at Julia’s blog.

MonsterinMittens is a New Zealand based company, which specializes in producing hand knitted merino baby clothing in vintage styles with a classic twist.  Tracy and Emma are the founders and they employ a collective of handknitters throughout NZ and only use NZ Merino wool including their beautiful soft organic merino wool which is perfect for baby's first woolen garment. While scrolling through Trunkts database I found the work by textile designer Yuko Uemura. Yuko is originally from Tokyo, but now living in Chicago. Here she also founded her company PataPri.

The colors in this fabric are amazing…very soft, but not too sappy. The pillow covers, tea towels and fabrics are all handmade. Also the patterns are designed by Yuko herself. Here you can find her webshop and her her blog for news and updates.

Kice Kice

If I would have a daughter she would definitely got one of these beautiful dresses by Kice Kice. Kice Kice is a partnership between twin sisters, Lesley Nishigawara and Karen Kice. Lesley Nishigawara, a textile artist, started making children’s clothing after the birth of her daughter.

Naturally, Karen, also an artist, began helping Lesley...and see her the result...absolutely my style...hopefully more designs by Kice Kice will come in the near future. You can buy the Kice Kice dresses here...

Bholu

Let me show you Bholu today. The Australian company Bholu designs gorgeous felt homewares and wacky things for kids!

Jodie Fried is the designer behind the Bholu products and she has a wonderful philosophy….Bholu works with traditional women in India to support sustainable incomes, while doing art workshops with underprivileged kids in slum communities and using their drawings for the kids range.
