Pining for Perfume

Bloesem Living | Jody Kocken

When designers face a problem, they find a way around it. That's exactly what Jody Kocken did.

Finding out she was allergic to perfume, Jody found away around this with Perfume Tools. Her series of Industrial jewelry pieces are able to attach to the openings of perfumes bottles and the tools then work as a means of holding the scent and diffusing them, all the while acting as a barrier between the sensitive skin and the actual perfume.

Though the designs were a way to solve a personal problem, they were more than that. They were an expression of herself as a designer.

We love the tough industrial look of the pieces, which contrast to the delicate nature of frangrances and the body parts you wear the pieces on or spray your perfumes on. All in all, a beautiful collection!

Flower Food for the weekend ... and a preview!

Bloesem_yellow_flower

The last couple of days I have been working on shooting images of a new series Bloesem Wear handmade jewelry ... yes hopefully next week I am able to open the Bloesem Wear shop again this time the 2013 collection.

I thought using  little edible flowers would be a perfect styling idea ... they are so sweet, fragile and delicate just as I want my new necklaces to be ...

And although I am a bit nervous ... I'm already going to show you one picture of one of the designs from this limited new series Bloesem Wear,

Like I said hopefully a couple of more days and I am ready to open the shop... but in the meantime I would love to hear your response get some feedback from you whether you like this style! xoxo irene

In a previous post, Irene had mentioned that she loved looking through Emeeme's shop. It was my turn today to shop and I've picked out some dainty jewelry that would go perfectly for everyday wear or an evening out. The gold touch makes it just that more dressier I think. I especially  love the different materials Emeeme uses such as that Cedrela Calantas Pod Beads Necklace.~ Sufiya

Jenna Postma

Jennap

Jenna Postma is a wonderful young designer that creates from the heart. Working with different materials, Jenna produces simple everyday items with a little bit of her own story.

Do you recognize these? These ceramic necklaces are of the everyday view of Dutch architecture. What is your building of choice? A farmhouse? A church? I would go for the mill!

The jewelry box is the other piece I would like to mention because I was excited it’s a standing jewelry box. Being a girl herself Jenna thought that it would be useful if you could hang your necklaces in the box. Yes that’s perfect! If you don’t want the high legs, there are smaller ones for tables and walls. ~Sufiya

Zelda Beauchampet has a jewelry line ‘The Boyscouts’. What a fun name for a jewelry line don’t you think? How does she incorporate scouting with jewelry? She says it’s the idea of the “survival of the finest.”

Irene had posted pictures of her first collection, and I can tell you that we both love it.  I definitely love the simplicity of jewelry. Its fun, its colorful and uniquely designed. I haven’t seen anything like it so far here in Kuala Lumpur.

My favorites from this collection are the necklaces especially ‘The Boyscouts-Synthesis.’

Introducing the new Boyscouts, this time with a more classic look and less color. Handcrafted in mostly sterling silver and gold, this collection is more evening wear I would say. Very elegant compared to the more playful look of the first boyscout collection.

Two stood out to me. The ‘Anchor’ printed scarf also comes with a gold-filled tube. You can be creative accessorizing it as a headband or a neck scarf. The other would be my first purchase, ‘The Apparatus’ is a set of 3 leather bags. Perfect for an evening out which includes a make-up mirror, wooden comb, a little wallet for credit cards or money, and a bigger pouch for your phone and keys. Truly the survival kit!
