Last week Irene came home with the December issue of Real Magazine Australia with a smile on her face. She must have been happy with the feature. We all are! It looks great! Irene and family would like to thank Real Magazine so much for featuring them and their home here in KL. Being one of her favorite magazines, this December issue is filled with great Christmas decorating ideas too.
All pictures was taken by personal friend Marjon Hoogervorst. Im sure you recognize that name by now. She has beautiful pictures all over Bloesem especially in our Face-to-face a new Designer's Profile column.
The article starts off with what Irene and Rik wants in a home. "open
spaces, high ceilings and a decent sized home office for Irene's
studio." This place says it all. After getting to know Irene a little
better I can really say that every inch of this home was thought for and
added a touch of their personality and style even some toys on the counter by the boys.
Every piece that I point to has a
story. "a mix of new and vintage pieces bough on trips to the
Netherlands since their travelling adventures began in 2006." And yes, I
even asked about the story behind the albino Chinese girl photograph on
the wall. Creating a 'real home' sounds easier than done, Irene shares this thought too in the article. [READ MORE
Kiet at the kitchen counter on stools that were bought locally.
This is where I spend my weekdays, the office space/crafts room/inspiration room. I love it! And yes, the best part is the full window of natural light and a view of the outdoors. Irene talks a little bit about the 'black walls' she has here. For an office like this it's perfect for photoshoot days and matches well with all our wooden furniture.
As you can see in the picture below, her bedroom has a black wall as well. What do you think? Do
we all love?
Explore Irene's vintage finds, studio space and her relax and play rooms. Grab a copy of the December issue of Real Living to check out Irene's full feature and many more. There's some last minute gifts idea, more beautiful homes and some Christmas recipes to try out.~Sufiya

I really felt like cleaning out some shelves and re-organise some things in our dining area. Perhaps the loss of my dad and all the sadness around it made me want to start fresh again ... you recognise this feeling? Some people go out sporting or shopping I like to stay in my own home and find comfort in the things I cherish ... so last Sunday while my boys were playing outside I gave myself some 'me' time .. while listening to some music I enjoyed moving my things around.
Usually I forget taking pictures but this time I thought let's share it with you my dear readers, you have been so supportive of me lately ... so I hope you like my small decoration ideas.
I always keep things simple in my home, group things together and try to give proper attention to even the smallest object. [CONTINUE READING]
Tin, copper and bras are my new favorites and luckily for me my mom had quite a collection and she was more than willing to pass them on to me. I like how the tinny things are grouped together in a more modern setting. It is probably the color that I like so much. And mixing old and new is I believe always a good idea.
I will mention some of the obeject you see in the pictures. The red bar stool is by Heidi Sebastian for established&sons. Rik and I bought it for our apartment in Singapore but with new tenants living their now we thought better to use it ourselves. I absolutely love the stool and just to let you know it sits very comfortably.
The shelves are by string from Sweden, but I guess you knew that already :) ... a little vintage vase by Tapio Wirkkalla, square robot prints by Vorstin, Italian cotton threads by Carta inc., a ceramic pencil box by Dick van Hoff, blue ceramic pot by inkypots and the rest are thrift store finds.
Art on the wall is by Dutch photographer Anna Tiedink. Some trays by fog linen on the marble table, facemaker by miller&goodman the luxe edition and of course a little picture off my dad.
All images by me, Irene
. If you have any questions for me about decorating your home ... please do leave a comment, I love to hear from you!

Dear readers .... I received some very bad news a
few days ago. My dad died in a car accident on his way to his house in Spain. I
am devastated by the news and will leave for the Netherlands with my two boys
and my husband this evening. In my absence a group of truly wonderful blog
friends have volunteered to write guest posts on Bloesem Living and BKids. I am
very touched by their support for me and my blogs. Sufiya, who most of you know
by now, will be responding to emails until my return. While I am unable to focus on my blogs right
now, my dad would have been proud that I am not completely abandoning my
readers and sponsors. He was my example when it comes to work, my friend and mentor ... and very proud of the Bloesem
blogs. So in honor of him, although you won’t be hearing from me in the next
two weeks, Bloesem blogs would like to continue spreading beauty to the world .... I leave you in the very capable hands
of my blog friends and Sufiya who I am sure will treat you to some amazing new
finds! A happy picture of our last family vacation in Spain last July.
My best, Irene ... and PLEASE promise me don't forget to enjoy LIFE!

I was experimenting with my camera (nikon D7000) last week ... i am the person who loves and cherishes small things that were either given to me or bought my self ... every little item has special value to me ...
image above: my new threads from Angela Liguori ... I have so many ribbons from her already and couldn't resist buying some spools of this gorgeous wrapped cotton thread too , the spoon I bought in china town and the felt brooch was a present from Arounna from Bookhou a long time ago ... she should be selling these too don't you think?
image below: new ribbon from fog linen work, the brooch again :) , paper stars given to me by Jurianne Matter the first time we met, a little candle holder that i bought in a thrift shop and the copper key is from an old clock my parents had at home and a glimpse of one of my new fog linen trays.
Hope you like my little gems too ...

It was the lovely Peta from LoveMae, (met her in person last week at the NYIGF) who convinced me I should start instagramming ... first I thougt nnneah ... but her enthousiastic words made me sign up andsuddenly it starts to grow on me and I am even enjoying it very much!
What I like best about using instagram is the fact that it gives me the oppurtunity to share things I like in my own home instantly with you... just a small snapshot is all it takes to give you an impression of my personal stuff, things I am doing during the day and more.
It is also a bit magical because you mostly see details ... you have to use your imagination to figure out the whole picture :)
A couple of ways how to follow me if you wish ...
go to the instagram app on your phone and find me at: Bloesem Blogs
Or visit Bloesem Blogs at the Followgram website
or use the rss feed ....
Thanks for the Follow and I hope you will enjoy my pics! ~irene xoxo
