I was experimenting with my camera (nikon D7000) last week ... i am the person who loves and cherishes small things that were either given to me or bought my self ... every little item has special value to me ...
image above: my new threads from Angela Liguori ... I have so many ribbons from her already and couldn't resist buying some spools of this gorgeous wrapped cotton thread too , the spoon I bought in china town and the felt brooch was a present from Arounna from Bookhou a long time ago ... she should be selling these too don't you think?
image below: new ribbon from fog linen work, the brooch again :) , paper stars given to me by Jurianne Matter the first time we met, a little candle holder that i bought in a thrift shop and the copper key is from an old clock my parents had at home and a glimpse of one of my new fog linen trays.
Hope you like my little gems too ...

It was the lovely Peta from LoveMae, (met her in person last week at the NYIGF) who convinced me I should start instagramming ... first I thougt nnneah ... but her enthousiastic words made me sign up andsuddenly it starts to grow on me and I am even enjoying it very much!
What I like best about using instagram is the fact that it gives me the oppurtunity to share things I like in my own home instantly with you... just a small snapshot is all it takes to give you an impression of my personal stuff, things I am doing during the day and more.
It is also a bit magical because you mostly see details ... you have to use your imagination to figure out the whole picture :)
A couple of ways how to follow me if you wish ...
go to the instagram app on your phone and find me at: Bloesem Blogs
Or visit Bloesem Blogs at the Followgram website
or use the rss feed ....
Thanks for the Follow and I hope you will enjoy my pics! ~irene xoxo

Perhaps you have read somewhere that during the last couple of weeks my family and I were staying in our Amsterdam apartment to do some re-decoration and prepare the place for new tenants. Perhaps not difficult to understand that I had a lot of fun doing this :) for the bedroom I needed some new lights and I choose three E27 bulb lamps by Muuto ... I like the simple look, believe 'bulbs' are trending and most importantly I like how the cords bring a lillte extra to the white wall in the back. The quilt was a nice bargain over at Zara home sale in Amsterdam. Beautiful colors and it matches perfectly with the green off the wood and our build-in cabinets.
All images are by me, Irene Hoofs .... and my little model had a lot of fun jumping around :)

Seeing a home in one of the nicest interior design mags that has your name written with it is truly nice. In the current issue of Elle Decoration NL you can find the home of architect couple Wen Hsia and BC Ang based in Kuala Lumpur. Last year when photographer Marjon Hoogervorst came to work with me on several projects we also shot this home and it is probably one of the coolest ones in KL.
building bloc architects are known for making the best use of basic materials, concrete, copper, stone. Using nature's own elements is what makes a concrete home like this feel warm and very easy to live in.
One of my favorite projects by building bloc is the Telegraph Pole house on the island of Langkawi ... click here to see those images.
But if you want to see the whole series of their own home that Marjon and I created than just buy the August issue of Elle decoration NL this month. [MORE]

Good morning lovely readers I hope you have missed me the last couple of weeks ... I certainly missed you and am super happy to be able to post this morning. I have had a wonderful vacation in Spain with my family and am enjoying some quality time in the Netherlands right now with my friends.
Luckily for me I can stay in our own Amsterdam apartment which normally is rented out but tenants moved back to their home country and I am currently doing a huge re-decoration/renovation so new tenants can move in after the summer.
Great to empty out many boxes that were stored about ten years ago when we left this place. I found this huge pile of old wallpapers (1998 - 2003) and was happily surprised with the still sublime-looking covers. I believe back then wallpaper was a bit more trendsetting and new then nowadays but I admire them for being around for such a long time on high-quality level.
I think I am going to keep them ... still very inspirational.
All images by me, Irene.

Not sure whether you noticed but I was away for a summer vacation with my family in Spain and oh boy did we have a wonderful time there. Just before I left I launched a new jewelry collection called bloesem wears. With the help of a good friend in Kuala Lumpur I was able to ship out many orders throughout the world .... but I am absolutely sure that these fantastic bloggers made all the difference in getting attention for my shop and I am very grateful for that.
Jan from Poppytalk, Fenny from F for Fabulous, Christina from Down And Out Chic and Emma Lamb all wrote some really nice compliments about my handmade collection.
Seeing my necklaces over at Oh Joy felt perhaps most special because Joy is so known for her impeccable style for fashion and accessoiries. So getting her approval made me feel I am in the right direction and her words encourages me to explore this new hobby of mine a bit more. If you would like to see a bit more of her great sense of style then just take a look at one of these more personal posts of her: 'hello my name is Joy'...
And if that is not all this lady also wrote a new book: Blog, Inc. - a book about how to have a successful blog to be released by Chronicle Books in Fall 2012 and available for pre-order here.
ps. If you have written about my new bloesem wears collection and I didn't notice yet, please let me know ~ so I can thank you properly too :) ~irene
