You either love it or hate it when well-known designers start collaborating with giants like IKEA. Well Hella Jongerius was brave enough to accept the invitation and did a marvellous job combining design, craft and commercial manufacturing in a product.

Yes, I am talking about the PS Jonsvase that made its debut in 2005 and still is in production.

I have some of the vases at home and I like the way the shape of the vase reminds me of classic vase from the Roman empire, but the decorations are I believe more Asian or African inspired.

So if you would like to have a designer piece in your home that is affordable I can stronlgy recommend one of the four Jonvases from your local IKEA.       ......MORE

  Lapera_lamela

They say ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away but a pear can be so much sweeter’, now you can enjoy them both at the same time with "La Mela e La Pera" or as we say in English "The Apple and Pear". This screenprint is designed by Enzo Mari in 1963 for Danese Milano, Italy.

Enzo Mari is an icon in product, furniture & puzzle designer, a true artist, writer and teacher and was born in Italy in 1932. "La Mela e La Pera" is from Enzo Mari’s nature series. You can say that this “healty” graphic styled mod Apple and Pear is a classic piece of Modern Design...I love the simplicity and the boldness of this artwork, it makes it just that more beautiful and special. A real eye catcher that will make any room spark......................... MORE IMAGES

In the Picture: Flowerpot Family by Verner Panton

b>tags | ..in the Picture

_andtradition

In the picture today an all-time favorite of mine the Flowerpot(s)  by Verner Panton.  The Flowerpot is a design icon and truly has stood the test of time.  Awarded many times for his genius designs Verner Panton brought the Flowerpot in 1969 to the stage and and named it after the happy days of Flower Power. The orange one in the image above is the FlowerPot table lamp VP3.

Finding an orignal vintage one form that era is probaly nicest but I would easily buy a new one. Many online shops have them available and &Tradition from Denmark is the current manufacturor.

In the Picture: Topan VP6 lamp by Verner Panton

Topan_VP6_1

&Tradition from Copenhagen is one of my favorite design companies. With designers like Arne Jacobsen,  Benjamin Hubert, Kai Linke and Verner Panton in their house you can only assume how many nice things their collection carries.

Today I want to highlight the Topan VP6 haning lamp designed by Verner Panton. The beautiful black matte with golden inside is my favorite but the lamp comes in many different colors. I found the beautiful images of this loft were the lamp is featured at the website of &Tradition but were made by NORM architects. ...more about them real soon :) ... more pictures >>>

In the Picture: Tolbod pendant by Louis Poulsen

b>tags | ..in the Picture

Tolbod120

In the picture today one of my favorite pendant lamps is the Toldbod 120 from Louis Poulsen. The lamp  is designed to be hung in small groups over a table, a work plan, a desk, a coffee table, etc. I love the very simple lines in combination with the colored wire threads to create a joyful but understated feel. More examples of how this lamp could look in your house right here

Is this a pendant you would like to see in your home? Or do you have another favorite... would love to hear it!

The image above and below are from this amazing Scandinavian home which I found via Bo Bedre and were taken by photographer Kennet Havgaard.

In the Picture: Eero Saarinen's Tulip chair

Marcheldens_saarinen

In the Picture: Tulip chair, designed by Finnish American architect, Eero Saarinen in 1955 and 1956 for the Knoll company of New York City. It was designed primarily as a chair to match the complementary dining table.

I love the smooth organic lines, they make me think of a flower. My favorite would be the one with the green seating and preferably a vintage one... not easy to find nowadays but I will keep on looking.
