Anna Badur

Bloesem living | Anna Badur home accessories and furniture

Though Anna Badur calls herself a designer, we see her more as an artist. In her piece Drawn by Nature, the natural movement of the wind is captured on the cloth as the blue pigments are blown across it. From far it reminds us of the richness of shibori dyeing but on closer inspection, it is a whole different kind of beauty.

We can truly say that she is a mixed media artist when looking at her portfolio of work, which includes furniture such as the concrete stool that gives the illusion of a soft texture, wallpapers and even working with ceramics. Some of her work is available in her store too.

Wood workin'

Bloesem living | wood work by Ariele Alasko

Bloesem living | wood work by Ariele Alasko

What first caught our eye was Ariele Alasko's amazing store filled with handmade wooden goodies but then we hit the motherload when we ventured onto her website and saw these beautiful headboards and other wooden delights! The way she plays with wood and combines different coloured woods to create such pieces of art is simply amazing.

It is a tedious process creating each piece as every piece of wood has to be cut precisely to fit, so it is no wonder it takes days or even weeks to complete each. Ariele collects all her materials, cleans them and then uses the wood in their natural state (colours, patina and all) to create these patterns.. no stain involved!

Oh Floyd..

Bloesem Living | Starting the Week of with this genius design: The Floyd Leg - make a table out of any flat surface

Coming from a background of industrial design, I am always a sucker for ingenious designs like this! Perfect for someone on the go or to create "mobile workspaces", the Floyd leg allows you to create a working space out of any flat surface. Doesn't matter if it's a piece of wood or a door or just a plank, just slap on some of these bad boys and you got yourself a place to work on or display items.

We love using trestles in the Bloesem space or classroom because it gives us the freedom to move the tables around easily or create different configurations, so these legs are also a great alternative to trestles. They even come in a carrier so you can carry the legs with you and set up a table wherever. Makes moving so much easier! Have a look over on their site to see how these legs can be used to make all kinds of tables, so smart! - Zara S.

Fit for home

Bloesem Living | Truck Furniture in Osaka, Japan

I first spotted this beautiful image on Justin Chung's blog and the caption simply said: " Truck Furniture, Osaka, Japan." That was not enough for me, this shot was far too gorgeous. Of course I had to get to the bottom of it and see if this one gorgeous image led to many more. And of course it did.

Truck is a furniture store founded just outside Osaka, Japan in 1997 by Tokuhiko Kise and Hiromi Karatsu. Their aim was to make furniture that was classic and that they would love to have for themselves.

Well they definitely acheived their goal.. and much more.

Tri these on for size

Bloesem Living | Mathew Philip Williams tripod tables

This collection of tripod tables by designer Mathew Philip Williams based in Portland are simply stunning. With the common denominator being the layered order, the tables are a mixture of colors and materials like the maple, walnut and douglas fir used for the table tops. The tables were part of a collaborative show between Jason Lee Starin and Mathew Philip Williams.

Great pieces to have in your home don't you think? One of them, or preferable all of them together!
