The good thing about moving house is being reminded of all your family pictures hidden in storage boxes that you never came around placing in a photo-albums... the problem with me is that when I finally have found time and spirit to start sorting them all out I don't have a photo album that I like. I will then go to a 'normal' shop, but do not like what I see and the my good spirit fades away and the pictures go back in the box...

Best solution would be simply to order a couple of theses beautiful handmade albums from Nauli . At least they will be there when I want to start on a rainy evening or Sunday afternoon...

Good morning do you already have a copy of Grace her first book? I haven't but I can't wait to hold it in my hands and see what this very inspirationallady has created for us. All of you know that Grace was a big inspiration for me to start Bloesem and I so understand the succes of her blog and now her book. Her passion for interior design, arts and crafts is unstoppable and her energy is contageous for many of us. I'm very happy she took the time to answer some questions I had for her about 'Design*Sponge at Home'

What was the main reason for going from 'online' to 'offline'... why a book?
I've always been someone who loved print (I actually started the blog in hopes of one day getting a job at a magazine) so I knew I wanted to try my hand at it down the road, but I waited a long time to tackle a book project because I wanted it to the perfect situation- one in which the publisher understood our goals and supported them. When we met with Artisan they immediately got what I wanted to do and embraced my desire to work with the web design team and illustrator (ALSO and Julia Rothman) that we always work with, so it felt like it was meant to be. 

 

     
 

A Book: 'In the Wilds' by Nigel Peake...

A beautiful new book on my shelves that i need to share with you...because it will bring you lots of creative inspiration I'm sure... the book I am talking about is an art book by Nigel Peake called 'In the Wilds'. 

In the Wilds is a collection of artist Nigel Peake's hand-drawn observations of rural life. From the trees, fields, lakes, and rolling hills that define the country landscape, to the farm houses, tractors, fences, and telegraph poles...

Interview with Christiane Lemieux about her book 'Undecorate'

A little while back this beautiful book was given to me by a super friendly Canadian lady, Corinne Suchy, Vice-President & Editor Online for Chapters Indigo Canada.

A little while back she was visiting Singapore and we tried to meet up but unfortunately we weren't able to. But Corinne and I are currently chatting about possible projects between Chapters Indigo and Bloesem. Will keep you posted of course... hopefully I am able to show you something next week already... 

But today I would like to tell you a bit more about this book Undecorated by Christiane Lemieux. The founder, designer and creative brains behind Dwell Studio, an interior design label. I had only seen some pics of the cover of the book before so I was super delighted to see it in real.

Corinne thought with me being a person who is not so much into 'set-rules' for decorating, but more loving characteristic an personal approaches when it comes to decorating this would be the perfect book for and and she couldn't be more right... I absolutely love the book and was really eager to hear a bit more from the author, Christiane Lemieux, about the why's and how's of this book so I asked her a couple of questions and she happily replied... click here for the interview.

     

Holly talks to us about her new Bestseller: Decorate

I already told you about Holly's wonderful new book, but only until recently did I have the change to scroll to the actual book myself. And wow how many pages of inspiration... each room in a home gets plenty of attention. Many useful tips and ideas are given together with illustrated floor-plans. Not just one style but a variety of different styles, contemporary, modern, floral, colorful and white you name it...  and I like that very much. With all these different styles the book will definetly appeal to a very wide audience and it's no wonder to me that Decorate was ranked #2 in the Wall Street Journal... an absolute bestseller so to speak! And I'm honored and thankful to Holly for have a tiny little spot in her book :) like many other guests Holly has quoted bloggers, interior designers and other professionals throughout the book.

* How did you come up with the idea for the book Decorate?

UK Interiors author, Joanna Copestick, was following decor8 and thought that it would be nice to do a book together that merges the voice of an American (me) with someone from another part of the world, like her, who lives and works in London. She also thought I had a good eye and thought that working with me would be interesting as I could work on the visuals - book homes that I like, hire the photographer that I wanted to work with,travel to the homes to direct the shoots and style, and then write a portion of the book. I also was assigned the task to produce the entire directory on my own which took me months. I relied on decor8 archives for lots of those resources. ..........READ MORE >>>
