Envelop

Envelop.eu

An email from Serge yesterday really caught me eye ... he is the brain-kid behind Envelop ... an online print-on-demand platform where illustrators can create, promote and sell there own designed cotton items, like pillow-covers, napkins, bags,  oven gloves and aprons ... all you have to do is download the product templates of textile items in order to customize them...submit your design and after being approved as a contributing designer you can start selling your items at Envelop ... for me as a buyer it's a fantastic place to buy one-of-a-kind and uniqye designer pieces!

Envelop

Some of my picks are the apron by Carolyn Alexander, the pillowcover by Gemma Correll by and these fun letter napkins by audbo. Please read all the information on Envelop self as it is too much for me write-up here...

Ink+Wit

Ink+wit
I was planning on showing these in 2008, but it just didn't happen, but I think they just look just as great in 2009 ... Tara Hogan from Ink+Wit really knows how to play with colors and her illustrations make these owls linen tea towel just super. I think I would use them as a wall hanging.
Ink+wit_poster
Another new item Tara recently designed is the very beautiful "Everything Counts Poster" ...
she used 100% post consumer recycled paper and  soy inks and are packaged in a recycled kraft tube mailer ... available in her shop right here ...

Roddy&Ginger

Rodyginger
This morning I received an email from Virginia Armstrong. A graphic and textile designer living in London UK, who just opened her online shop called Roddy&Ginger ... here you can find a great selection vintage and mid-century bits and pieces .... and even better some marvelous cushions ... I'm in LOVE with the red one in the right upper corner. Virginia's prints which she uses for tea towels, artwork, cushions and pieces for children's are simply gorgeous! I'm sure we will be seeing much more of Roddy&Ginger in the near future and I'm happy to be able to show Roddy&Ginger to you today!

BGuest_YOPMuseum
... well I'm not a guest of course, but I thought after inviting so many other people to show us their favorite design pieces in their houses I thought it was only fair if I show you some of mine too ...
FD_Chair_irene_2
Well there are two corners in our apartment that I really love ... the first one is a the place were this vintage Danish chair and Noguchi lamp stands my husband and I bought the chair in a great shop in Toronto called Bungalow ... we didn't buy the chair because of the gorgeous cushions, in fact the cushions were horrible, but we bought it because of the fantastic wooden frame
FD_Chair_irene
of course we brought the chair with us to Kuala Lumpur and finally had it re-upholstered here in KL, I chose this light grey wool from Kvadrat and am very happy with the result ... the little logo makes us assume that the chair is an original from France&Sons from Denmark, but if anybody recognizes the logo and thinks differently please let us know ... and the pillow was made by me using my Gocco print on the linen ...

The other corner I always enjoy looking at is in our very small entrance ... luckily for us we don't need a coat-hanger, the weather is always beautiful here so no hats, coats, scarfs or other items and the shoes are always waiting outside ... the cabinet was also bought at Bungalow in Toronto, the lamp was a birthday present for my husband last May, the fantastic table lamp 'Coupe' from Joe Colombo for O Luce ... the print on the wall is from AshleyG and the fantastic handmade mobile is from X&L, look under archive to find it, ... i hope you like my little corners too...

Uncle Beefy 's favorite design pieces in his house
Unclebeefy_2
I (=Uncle Beefy) didn't really gravitate toward anything contemporary and must be very sentimental at heart as I went for all old family relics. (And, hopefully, not too many!) In the first photo is a Rodeo trophy that was won by my father's father (i.e., my Grandfather on my Dad's side), the clock was made by hand in Ireland by my Great-great-grandfather on my Mom's side, and the milk pitcher belonged to my Mom's Grandmother (or my Great-grandmother).
Unclebeefy
... and the fat little blue & white pitcher was also my Great-grandmother's, the small silver teapot was one that my (=Uncle Beefy) maternal Grandfather obtained from working on the Canadian National Railway, the bell is a complete mystery (and I love that too!), the teacup honoring the Nova Scotian tartan belonged to my Grandmother (my Mom's mother), and the "Cape Breton" photo belonged to my Mom (and I love that faded retro 60's photo styling!)
