Color splashes by DAN300

Bloesem Living | Dan300 Textiles

Hi, good morning this is Christine from House of C  treating you to some real splashes of color this Monday morning! These amazing images are by DAN300, an Australian (home) accessories brand founded by Dani Rosen. Generous cushions, amazing kaleidoscope rugs in various sizes, lovely stationary and - my favorite - pretty A4 art prints (just a perfect match for your Ikea Ribba frame). Don't you just love the retro designs and catchy colors, I know I do!

Gemma Patford

Bloesem Living | #BinstaGood Gemma Patford

I enjoy following this creative lady from Australia in her working process ... Gemma makes these beautiful rope baskets and adds little details in paint or needlework. It says it all in her quirky instagram description: "Lady Gemma, Painter of Ropes, Printer of Screens, First of the Macrame Bloodline ". Haha!

It's because of artists like Gemma that macrame, weaving and other crafty things are making a major comeback. She is one of the artists that is really helping to revamp this world of hands-on crafts and at the same time, inspiring people like myself to do it too. You just can't help it when you see someone else creating such beautiful works, your hands start itching to have a go at it as well.

Getting to see artists at work and the process behind the final creations is the best part of instagram sometimes. So if you want to find out more behind the scenes about your favorite labels or even artists like Gemma, you should really go check out their instagram feeds!

For more of Gemma, here's her website

Do you guys know any other inspiring artists on instagram?

UncommonGoods

Bloesem Living | UncommonGoods{1. What I Love About You By Me Book: here 2. Shower Squids: here 3. Crumpled city maps: here 4. Kinetic Sand: here 5. Driftwood iphone charging dock: here 6. On This Day Perpetual Calendar: here}

UncommonGoods is just the site you need for this time of year. It has come to rescue you from the headache of present shopping! From its name, you know it's going to offer some pretty out there kind of stuff and you are right. We love this site because it's not what you would expect, and has some pretty interesting out of the box products that would make great gifts and get us in the mood for Christmas shopping. We had a great time going through the site just looking at what they have to offer! So many fun gift ideas!

This product isn't something we usually see so we were immediately intrigued. This squid actually makes for a really fun and useful present. It lets you hang all your shower products from the shower head in the bathroom so you don't have to have a shelve to place them on, and you can just squeeze the products right out without removing the bottles from the squid.

It's even great for travel, like if you were on a road trip and have to move from place to place, it's handy to just hang in the bathroom and just detach when you leave.

I would love to get this as a gift for the annual christmas gift exchange! I know whoever gets it is going to love it and it's definitely a conversation starter.

Hope this is helpful for anyone who is having trouble deciding what to get your friends and loved ones for this holiday season. Happy shopping!  We shared our favorite products, now you guys tell us which products you guys liked :)

101Characters at Piet Hein Eek

Bloesem Living | My Deer #101karakters

A few weeks ago Histor organized a competition in the Netherlands, called 101Karakters, for people to submit their ideas of how they would customize a specially designed cabinet by Piet Hein Eek. 2000 People submitted their designs, and 101 of those submissions were chosen and invited to Piet Hein Eek's workshop to actually get their hands dirty and create their designs.

What an amazing opportunity!

I love the concept behind this and the fact that you are able to express your own design aesthetic, what ever it may be.

Of the 101 designs that were chosen, we have picked one by Maaike from My Deer, that caught our attention! After spotting this instagram mommy previously, we had noticed her snap of her custom design on her feed. Don't you agree her design is beautiful? And the pictures of the cabinet and space look fantastic.

We already have some ideas how we would design our cabinet if we had the chance. Plus, it would have looked great in our new studio space in the new year. (How is it already coming to the end of 2013?!)

Cuttingboard love

Bloesem Living | Cuttingboard selection

Cutting boards, where do I begin, not only are they functional, like when you actually use them as a base to do your cutting on, but they also look beautiful to serve food on. Especially with the beautiful patterns and colors they come in nowadays.

I have noticed an increased use of chopping/cutting boards in food presentation. From just the classic wooden chopping boards, to these cool geometric shaped plastic boards. They look great just as decorative pieces hanging in your kitchen!

In conclusion, cutting boards look pretty, are functional for cutting and serving, and they come in so many different designs. You can even pimp up your old wooden chopping boards with leather straps! So the next time you're having a party or having some friends over for dinner, try serving food on chopping boards to create a really photogenic spread. Unless its soup or noodles or something thats going to slide right off, then just stick to bowls, we beg you.

Have fun chopping board shopping! - Zara S.
