Indigo

{1. Grapes 2. Nostalgi  3. Celine by Victoria Will 4. Elephant ceramics 5. via 6. Leaf Fish }

We all know the color blue, but welcome blue's sexier cousin, Indigo.

Indigo has this mysterious and intense quality. I love how it looks when used in interiors, the space immediately looks posh, for a lack of a better word. The color even looks great when used to create patterns like the leaf DIY.  I'm so inspired by the use of Indigo on the Celine runway, wonder if i've anything remotely similar in my wardrobe.

Let's go forth and indiGO!

Tas-ka in The Hague

Bloesem Living | Tas-Ka in The Hague

Not sure if you need an introduction ... but will give you a quick one ... Tas-ka is a Dutch design company by Jantien Baas en Hester Worst ...  Tas-ka is the Czech word for handbag and designing handbags is were it began for these two friends ... a breakthrough came with a gorgeous collection fabrics manufactured for their own label. The fabrics are used in children, fashion and home accessories.

A couple of years ago they also opened a brick and mortar shop in the Hague were you can find products from other Dutch designers. I love their style and they way they used simple materials like concrete and chipwood but making the shop truly special .. what do you think?

Oh don't cry if you can't visit .. the ladies have an online shop too!

Prints and patterns are always a Trend!

Collection-lampshades_2_1024x1024

Being on Pinterest too much can be a pain (what?!). It's nothing to do with the endless stream of beautiful images that our eyes scan through on a daily basis, but the fact that we can't help but WANT all (some of) these things we chance upon.

We get inspired to change up our living spaces, make it more "pinteresting", if you will. Unfortunately not everyone is made of money, so what we suggest is actually investing in pieces that you are drawn to. They may cost abit more but these pieces are an expression of your personal style, help give a mini home makeover, and overtime, they become a part of the collection you have curated within your space.

One popular trend in home accessories are prints and patterns. Pieces with bright colors, crazy prints, textures, what ever it is. You like it, you buy it, you bring it home, it becomes part of the space. Don't see it as that $90 lampshade you weren't totally sure about buying, but rather that one piece that brightens up your living room. A new addition to your very own museum.

That lampshade above by Tamasyngambell  is just one of the daring prints I would love to see in my own house!

A nice round-up of my print & pattern favorites after the break ... starting with the cushions by Livin' in a Box ...

DIY Golden feathers

Bloesem Living | DIY Golden Feathers

Hello Bloesem readers, this is Nancy from Nicenancy and I am excited to share a little craft tutorial with you today.

I’ve got a thing for feathers at the moment. They are so tactile and beautiful I could look at them forever. And once you start painting them gold, you’ll want them even more. I used mine to decorate a package, but they are best friends with interior decorators as well. Put them under a glass and let the pretty things shine!

What you’ll need
*Textile painting (I used Royal Talens Decorfin gold, nr 801)
*Water color for any other color
*A small brush
*A match (if you want stamp dots)

Well, this is probably the easiest DIY you’ve ever seen. Just grab those lovely feathers and start exploring your favorite patterns. I like dots and graphic lines. My 6 year old daughter Josi painted just the upper part blue (like a dip-dye) and I loved it. Just follow your heart and it will turn out beautiful!
