{above image is by Petra Bindel and great styling by  Lotta Agaton}

I just have to bring some accessories home with me when I head back to Kuala Lumpur... things I spotted here in Amsterdam while visiting the design shops. An 'oldie' already but still a terrific piece is Tallow ... a beautiful candle in many different colors available by Ontwerpduo

And I would LOve to buy one of the mega polka dot bed cover by HAY. Not sure which color I like best ... do you?

Not a card not a book but a perfect message to send

Such a great idea instead of sending a card to someone send one of these cute little recipe books from Publisher Snor. They are small in size, but big in meaning.

And just what you expect from Snor, great illustrations this time by  Jose Luis Garcia, Sue Doeksen and jobjorisenmarieke. Graphic design by Dirk Laucke.

Each booklet contains 7 delicious recipes which go with the theme. Peronalize it, stamp it and send the whole book ... a perfect way to send a special message.

Would you like to say Sorry - 7 maximum-effort recipes to make things right again, Hurrah! 7 fun party recipes to shout about or just Wishing you well - 7 heartwarming recipes to help you get back on your feet.

{WorldSkinColor scarves by Reineke Otten}

This coming weekend I will be joining my friend Jurianne Matter and Tuttobene across the Atlantic to New York. From 19. - 22. August Jurianne will be showing her products at the NY Gift Fair (Booth 3762 ) together with 15 other very talented Dutch designers and three design labels from NL. (ps. if you are looking for me you can probably find me too at the booth number 3762)

Tuttobene is a platform for Design based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They organize design exhibitions around the world and their aim is to connect young creative talents with the industry, marketing organisations and/or retail partners. All the links to the participating Dutch designers can be found here

I will use this week to try and meet people I have met via Bloesem throughout the years but also to meet new people, see what is happening in the world of design in NY and hopefully get new ideas and inspiration for my own future with Bloesem ~irene

A breakfast corner in the US with a Dutch touch

I enjoy seeing two things coming together so nicely in this image ... snowpuppe's paper lamp and a collage image collage from ixxi. I don't have to tell you that Kristen from simply grove has as a very good sense for styling and interior decoration but I do like to share this idea from her how to up-lift a certain corner in your home in this case it was her breakfast corner.... fresh and crisp, just how I like it.

A place where you can the snowpuppe lamps online is here at tas-ka...

Kuala Lumpur home in the Dutch Elle decoration

Seeing a home in one of the nicest interior design mags that has your name written with it is truly nice. In the current issue of Elle Decoration NL you can find the home of architect couple Wen Hsia and BC Ang based in Kuala Lumpur. Last year when photographer Marjon Hoogervorst came to work with me on several projects we also shot this home and it is probably one of the coolest ones in KL.

building bloc architects are known for making the best use of basic materials, concrete, copper, stone. Using nature's own elements is what makes a concrete home like this feel warm and very easy to live in.

One of my favorite projects by building bloc is the Telegraph Pole house on the island of Langkawi ... click here to see those images.

But if you want to see the whole series of their own home that Marjon and I created than just buy the August issue of Elle decoration NL this month.                   [MORE]
