Let's Talk Cake Toppers
I am sure inside most of us there is a desire to create really gorgeous cakes. Where their taste is as equal to their beauty. That is why I have such a crush on shops like Potter + Butler, they make wonderfully fun cake and cupcake toppers. I love to bake, it is something I do to relax. But I'd like to improve on the presentation of it all, and having lovely cake toppers would surely do that.
Can you believe all of these are edible? Andie's Specialty Sweets are pretty fabulous cake toppers. I can't get over the details of each piece - such lovely pieces of edible art.
I think Herriott Grace is easily one of my most admired places on the internet. Everything Lance and Nikole Herriott create make me sigh with delight, and just a pinch of envy. Even their cake toppers are simplistic gorgeousness.

Look at those mushrooms!! I thought they are just for consuming, but they simply look amazingly wonderful!!!

I saw these cakes awhile back so when I baked a cake this weekend for my husband's birthday I felt inspired to add a topper! I did a 4 layer blue ombre cake - I use I box white cake mix - I've used it before and my family raves about it! I have to admit it is really moist - doesn't taste like much, but is a good vehicle for all the buttercream frosting you need for all the layers! Anyway - I did just a simple vanilla buttercream and needed something and knew I wasn't covering it with candles so I just cut a little piece of paper like it was a banner in the wind and wrote HAPPY BIRTHDAY rolled the ends around toothpicks taped it and whallah! It really does add to the presentation and simple sometimes is better (definately better than 47 candles).
