Christmas chaos in my house...
Why am I showing you this image...well it sort of shows in what state I have been in the week before Christmas....totally unprepared :) ...last week my two boys were sick, I had a photo-shoot in our home for a lovely Dutch magazine, who invited me to feature in of their next year's isues, quite an honor of course... super happy...then I came down with some sort of virus... high fever and up and about all night (slowly recovering now, high on panadol...)... on top of that I got suddenly incredibly homesick (we've been on the move for years and years...)... longing for a cold and white Christmas in the Netherlands, but most importantly very much missing my mom... so I decided that my Christmas gift to my mom and stepdad would be to invite them over to KL last minute (very last minute actually...) to spend the holidays with us in Malaysia... they arrived yesterday morning (leaving behind the mini-ice age in Europe...)... and nothing is more wonderful of course than spending Christmas with your family and being nursed by your own mom when you're sick.... so I guess this is a longwinded way of saying I am feeling a little bit guilty for leaving you and my dear B:Kids readers 'un-posted' for almost an entire week... but I guess that is what a personal blog is all about...you never know what the next day will bring ... wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas!

I Hope you're feeling better and had a great time with your family Irene!

Hello dear all, thank you so much for all the sweet comments! After all our Christmas was super nice, my mom treated us on a beautiful Christmas diner! I truly hope your Christmas was wonderful too!
As for you question Kristin: yes this is my own home and husband and baby boy and the patchwork pillows were made by 'me' :) from some left-over leather pieces. Glad you like them!

How lovely that you were able to gift your whole family by flying your parents in last minute! What a gift!

Merry Christmas
greetings from a freezing cold but always beautiful Amsterdam.

Whatever you do, there will always be something that gets in the way of your plans...and most likely during this time of year! I'm trying to just let it all go and enjoy what there is now. But from the looks of that photo, you're enjoying yourself already :)
I hope you have a lovely Christmas.
Lots of love from a white Brabant,
Inge

Wishing you well for the Christmas holiday. We have piles of snow here in Eindhoven, but we'll be departing for warmer climates soon and I'm looking forward to that just a little !! Prettige Kerstdagen!

Irene,
Reading a post like this, so intimate, so real and happy, inspires me more than a whole week of regular posts could ever do. Wish you a lovely Christmas!

I'm glad you are on the mend and surrounded by family - nothing more important at Christmas!
And for your parents fleeing the mini ice age - I bet they're glad! It's way more than freezing here in Scotland!!

Think I understand your feelings a bit from 'the other side'. Big brother lives with his family in Montreal, Canada and will not be in the Netherlands to celebrate Christmas. Strange that this brings an 'empty feeling' this time a year... Enjoy your holidays and the time together!
And ofcourse a very happy, healthy and inspiring 2011!

Merry Christmas to you too!!! Peace, love, health my wishes for 2011!
Get well soon!!! Regards, Rosana from Argentina

Just take your time to recover from the flu and relax and enjoy the Christmas with your family, that sounds really cosy (gezellig). : ) And yes, there is a mini ice-age indeed here in Europe, here in South Finland at my place - 25 celsius at the moment... ; ) Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I must say it is a very funny picture, decorating a Christmas tree in shorts :)
I have a friend in Australia and she tells me the same: this time of the year is really hard, you miss the feeling of cold and dark.
Happy your mum is there and you can enjoy the holidays with your loved ones.
Merry Christmas!
