Thanksgiving with Sweet Paul and mon biscuit

Sweetpaulmagazine Saakjevisser Unni

I know many of you will be celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow and to get you a little bit more in the spirit why don't you visit Sweet Paul's newest issue of his very beautiful online magazine (yes another one !)

and how about some 'biscuits' for dessert?....just saw them in my inbox and immediately loved them...Saakje Visser made them, I have written a bit before about her beautiful designs right here...

...doing the dishes would have been more fun with this tea-towel...perhaps for Christmas?

the images above are also from Sweet Paul's magazine {Paul did the styling and photography by Hector Sanchez}...I truly hope we will keep on making these for us...but he could use some help!..and above all Happy Thanksgiving to all of you... although I haven't been brought up with Thanksgiving I do like the idea of 'reflection and being thankful for all that life has to offer'...

Rue Magazine

Yes the world is changing or is it just that I'm getting older?...although I'm spending a lot of my time in the online world too and perhaps know a bit more than many others my age about internet, social networks etc. and yes I do have an ipad and iphone and yes I tweet...but let me be honest I am really having a hard time keeping up with all these wonderful new developments that are constantly going on online...for instance this online magazine/glossy....will there really be no need anymore in the future to go to a kiosk and buy a lot of paper but just scroll on your ipad in gorgeous magazines like Rue Magazine

Co-Founder and editor in chief Chrystal from plushpalate has done an amazing job in creating already issue 2 of this very glamourous and lady-like magazine...of course she had Help: Anne Sage, Bri Emery and Cassandra Lavalle among others were the creative brains, I'm deeply impressed!...this probably is going to be 'the' trend-setting and leading online magazine and the magazine is endless...keeps on going, 296 pages!! My absolute favorite part was the Jingle Girl Rock Christmas party (page 138)...loved the styling, idea and these Girls with the glasses...enjoy! {Images by Feather Love Photography}

Most of us have many dreams of things they still would like to accomplish in their lifes...well three of the things that have always been and still are on my 'Big-things-in-life-to-do-List' is 1. opening up a small art shop + craft area 2. organizing something to raise money for Charity here in Asia (working on that) and 3. organising a market like this 'little winter market' one day...and I mean a visuel stunning handmade market place were you can buy beautiful items taht are made with love and

Littlewintermarket Littlewintermarket2

The little winter market in Portland, Oregon was created by Abby from Abby try Again and Chelsea from Frolic...and many of my favorite American creatives displayed their beautiful goods here...

from what I believe it was a HUGE success and I completely understand...would love to go shopping in a market smae like the little winter market. I assume they will organise it again next year? You can find a list of all the vendors in the sidebanner of their blog. More beautiful pictures here by little ocean annie...

Let's Get Personal in the Netherlands with SnorPublishers

The home of Claudette Halkes from Uitgeverij Snor ... SnorPublishers

D:: Dutch is the language in which we (Snor Publishing House) publish most of our books. Snor was founded in 2006 by my partner in crime and business Annemarieke and myself. We love to make quirky books and have a great time together doing that. And from now on we will also publish books in other languages. World, here comes Snor!

Huis-bloesemblog---02a Huis-bloesemblog---03 Huis-bloesemblog---04 Huis-bloesemblog---05 Huis-bloesemblog---07 Huis-bloesemblog---08

E:: entrance, when entering my home you will notice that our home used to be a primary school. The living room has high ceilings and the windows are big and high positioned. So in former days the students wouldn't be distracted by looking out of the windows during the lessons. It's a special feeling that our living room was used to teach children writing and reading for years.

S:: style, means knowing what makes you feel comfortable, happy and beautiful. Knowing what suits you best, in fashion, living, everything. And style also has to with to be able picking beautiful little things out of a bunch of crap.

I:: interesting places in my city Utrecht are the wharfs and canals. For foreigners it's nice to see that you can wander around the city by the canals everywhere. A very quiet and beautiful surrounding is de Nieuwegracht/Museumkwartier and the Singel. I live nearby. In the museumquarter you can also find the Central Museum with a good collection and the famous Nijntje Museum in front of it. The Domtower is the highest tower in the Netherlands, you can climb to the top. For the rest: good coffee at Broodnodig. Good food at Eetcafe Te Koop and Luce. Good shopping: Strand West.

G:: gardening is something I'd like to do more, but most of the time I buy plants and stuff and than my husband puts them in the soil after some days... But I love our garden (a piece of the backyard of the former school), with sun and a big tree in the backyard. It's a very quiet place in the centre of Utrecht. With our 'school-neighbours' we share another piece of 'garden' behind our gardens. The children can play together there and once a year we have a big street/school/garden party together with a pot-luck dinner, bbq, drinks and music.

N:: new, in my home are the screenprints of Sue Doeksen. Sue is a very talented young illustrator and we from Snor are happy to have worked with her. We made a book: 'Cheerful in 3 1/2 months' and Sue did all 107 illustrations for the book. We made screenprints of 4 illustrations.

H:: hobby, I love to cook!

O:: outfit, my favorite thing to wear is right now a leather skirt! Never had a leather skirt before, I bought it in Antwerp and I am very happy with it.

M:: magazines I love to read are Elle Decoration, ELLE Decor, Jan, Wallpaper, CUT magazine, Vogue. Actually I love to read magazines, at Snor we get a lot of inspiration from magazines, even if they are not so high standing.

E:: enjoy, I can't live without good coffee and of course my husband, children, family, friends and last but definitively not least: Snor.

Just some of the books they have published...

Sponsor Spotlight: Dolan Geiman

Let's start with art this week...

Art coming from one of Bloesem's sponsors: Dolan Geiman. A mixed media artist creating original paintings, collages, constructions, and limited-edition reproductions. My favorites are the rescued wood pieces like the ones above and below in the images.  By using only salvaged wood, found objects, and other recycled materials Dolan's work instantly gives you a warm, honest and strong feel.

And there is so much more Dolan creates..panel paintings, prints and mixed media paintings...animals are every where I guess that his expression of how important nature is for all of us. I'm absolutely sure you will find something in his shop that you like...his collection is huge...and he offers free worldwide shipping for all orders $200 or more...click here for details.
