DesignHome Dicky Bird unRaveled :: answers by Liz Wells

Dickybird

B:: British is...eclectic. We’re a nation of collectors and love things from far away places.

Dickybird_4

R:: room, my favorite room in our home is...our house is very small, so I don’t have a lot of choice! We have one open space downstairs which is light and bright – that’s where it all happens...

Dickybird1a

I:: ideas come from...all over. I try to take my little Ricoh camera with me when I go out and about, so I can snap anything of interest that I see.

Dickybird_7

T:: time to make...anything! Knitting, sewing, drawing, baking, cooking – making something yourself is really rewarding.

Dickybird_2

I:: indulgence, my secret indulgence is...reading a book when I should be doing the housework. Like everyone else it seems, I’m into Swedish crime novels at the moment.

Dickybird_11

S:: style means...elegance, but looking like you haven’t really tried.

Dickybird_3

H:: home is...the place you feel best.

Dickybird_8

H:: hobby, I always make time for...taking photographs. It’s nice to look back a couple of years later and think ‘oh yeah, that was a lovely place...’

Dickybird_5

M:: magazines I love to read are... lately, The Gentlewoman - very stylish. Also Monocle – both are a good mixture of interesting people and nice things to look at.

Dickybird_9

O:: outfit, my favorite thing to wear is...jeans I’m afraid, they’re so useful! On the flipside, anything with spots or stripes.

Dickybird_12

E:: enjoy, I can't live without...tea and biscuits (I’m into ‘NICE’ ones at the moment)

.................Thank You Liz..............

Liz Wells is the founder of a great greeting card label, called dicky bird. Liz lives with her family in London and I just love the clean lines in her home. Fanja from Le Train Fantome was the one who introduces me to dicky bird's blog and don't you agree with me that these cards bring you in a positive mood! You can buy them here and I believe a new website will be up very soon.

Great article and very interesting blog. That's one thing I'm really looking forward. Looking forward to reading more from you.

I came across some photos of your home when googling for Span, and always wanted to see more. Especially like the use of Vitsoe (Span and Vitsoe together, died gone to heaven

Wow, thanks for your lovely comments and questions. Re: the floor - it's panels of marine ply from a local timber merchants. The wooden dolls were designed by Alexander Girard and are now made by Vitra. Thanks to Irene for having me and to Fanja for hooking us up - it really is fun to share! Lx

This looks so beautiful. Very nicely done. your blog is too fine. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Love the flooring!!!!! What kind of floor is this and where can I buy it?

Also like the bold colours used here & there to fresh up white/grey furniture.

Is it cupboards under the windows to hide clutter?? Super- idea!

Beautiful. I came across some photos of your home when googling for Span, and always wanted to see more. Especially like the use of Vitsoe (Span and Vitsoe together, died gone to heaven...). Would love to see how you've done the kitchen and bathroom :)

What a great place! It's really true that the simple things in life are usually the best things.

Seeing your beautiful, spare, art filled space makes me want to purge, purge, purge! You've given me some great ideas, thank you from Texas!

I really love the brightly-colored wooden dolls. The one of the couple would me a very kitchy wedding present. Do you know where these come from?

love the simplicity

Swedish crimenovels are just pageturners and perfect for a summer afternoon in the shadow! Stieg Larsson - what a shame he is no longer with us!
Love your blog!

Like your style lady!

Oooh that Braun T1000 by Dieter Rams. Love those wooden characters as well - but can't recall who designed them... An adorable space!

I'm so happy to see Liz'place & designs featured here, both are perfect! thank you Irene x (and thanks for the mention)

Very bright space. It doesn't feel small at all!

I like the clean lines, the hues and textures used in the designs of these rooms. Seems like a wonderfully, cozy place to live in. Accessorised just right. The colors are just playfully warm and comforting.
