beautiful, so sunny!
If you're not looking for a 'full on' SLR then I can recommend the Canon G9, it has options to shoot raw rather than jpeg. My [photographer] boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas as I couldn't handle his 40D.

Goodluck and enjoy your holiday!

I love my Canon EOS 20D. The newer version 40D or any from the EOS range are great. Brilliant lenses (you can change the lenses too.) Definitely worth the money. I'm tiny and I can handle the 20D or the 40D, no problem - they're comfortable to grip and easy to learn.
I use a Nikon Coolpix too which is good, but my Canon SLR is my favourite by far!

I'm an artisan myself, so your blog has been a great discovery for me. It's like having a wide view of the whole world.

i recently upgraded to a canon digital rebel, which i love, though i still rely heavily on my canon digital elph, especially for blogging.

We bought a Canon D40 and love it! You can get great quality small point and shoots, you might want to consider that first unless you plan to invest more time with the camera.

I love my Nikon D40. It's simple and light for an SLR. And you can't go wrong for the price. Thanks for such an enjoyable and informative blog.

Oh wow Irene, that looks like a little paradise! How great that you can visit such places relatively easily from where you live...

Hi there! Small camera or not, lovely pictures. I dont know much about cameras. I have 3 yr old konica minolta digital reflex and it works fantastic. Important to have a good macro lense if you like details.
I bet it's much warmer there in Malaysia than here in NL... 13C in June??? come on!! :)
Love your blog. One can so so many talented people all at once. Saves time and wandering around over the net (not like that is bad at all!). Im getting started with my own crafty enterprises, venturing into the world, so your blog is a good way to get in touch with others in the same situation.
Thanks! :)

(Konica minolta now has been bought by Sony)

Malayisa looks beautiful. Your photos make me want to take a trip there tomorrow.

Your pictures are beautiful. I think it's more about what you choose to shoot than what you shoot it with.
I'm about to get a dslr too and tossing up between the canon rebel and the olympus e-420 (which is very small and light).
Loving your blog!

but your photos look nice! I think you will enjoy a Sony Alfa or a Canon Rebel or D40, if you are not looking to work as a serious photographer, I think these are good start. I have a Rebel since 2003 and some lenses that I can still use if I decide to upgrade for a D40 later this year...

sorry, it should be 40d instead...
