Kiki van Eijk in Milan

Kikiworld_2

This week the most prestigious furniture fair of all is taking place...Salone Internazionale del Mobile Milan (16th to 21st april)...very exciting times and of course I wish I could just go there for one day and visit my favorite designers...one of them is absolutely Kiki van Eijk...I already thought she was the best designer in the Netherlands but now I'm absolutely sure...Kiki allowed me to show you some images as a preview from what she will be showing in Milan this week..an amazing collection inspired by stamps, buttons and  patchwork...Kiki's designs are so different and new and beautiful and warm and I could go one for hours...look at this Patchwork Cabinet in oak covered with some beautiful ceramic tiles,  all the elements are handmade, even the bronze hinges; a piece of real craftsmanship.

...and how gorgeous are these 'Stamped and Sealed Jewels'...they derived from the beauty of medieval seals which were used on glass bottles. The green vase is inspired on medieval glass bottles with its handmade seals. The green comes from the colors that was used for glasswork in these times.

And this is not just a room divider...but a piece of art...Kiki used luxurious and layered jacquard fabric is on this cubistic frame which forms a room divider that will give homage to these precious kitchen tools. She calls it 'Domestic Jewels'. The style of this piece reminds of the 18th century Louis XVI furniture, but is very modern and cubistic at the same time. Thanks Kiki!

If you are in Milan please visit Kiki van Eijk at  zona Tortona, at via Voghera 11. Here she will be showing her reCollections together with another incredible Dutch designer Joost van Bleiswijk (more about him real soon) {All images by Frank Tielemans}

I love her work, especially soft dressing table and soft clock. Great post! Betsy.

Those Stamped & Sealed jewels are absolutely stunning. I love sealing wax as a finishing touch so those really move me.
