Evelien Valk

Thursday, 17 January 2008 by Irene Hoofs

More Dutch design today...Evelien Valk started her own design studio after working for Boym Partners in NY and graduating from the design academy in Eindhoven. Her latest project is this unique HerinneringenKabinet, which is Dutch for 'a cabinet for Memories. A cabinet with plenty of room to save your precious memories, gifts, photo's or little secrets. When all the drawers/boxes are closed you will only see a translucent cube with 20 oakwood boxes. How amazingly beautiful and interesting!
Another beautiful design by Evelien Valk is her Secretaire. What makes this Secretaire so special is that Evelien  made it possible to have the whole design cut out of a single piece of oakwood without any loss of wood and therefore environmentally conscious. I like this new version of a traditional secretaire with its  asymmetrical form. The Secretaire will be shown at Tuttobene in Milan in April of this year.  You can email Evelien for information about prices and shipping.
