I am so jealous of your beautiful textiles. Nice photos...i loveyour posts for DESIGN sPONGE

Mithi

Thanks so much for that Irene - I've been following your blog and designsponge for a while now and somehow only JUST remembered that you're Based in KL (I'm sure you've mentioned it before but I just completely blanked it in my head!).

I'm based in the UK but am from Malaysia - infact I forwarded this entry to my mum in Johor - I'm sure she'll love it!

I have a request - would you do a feature on good shops for design/household decorating stuff in Malaysia/Singapore? I go home at least once a year and would love to get some beautiful south east asian stuff for my home (and I'm sure my mum would love to know too!). I'm sure you have asian readers - maybe you could ask to see how many you DO have outside Europe and the US. And with people travelling the world so much nowadays, a 'Malaysian Design Guide' would be much appreciated :)

Ps - so nice to see the Malaccan wooden pear - we used to have one in our house when I was growing up in the 70s. Infact I might just see if mum still has it and acquire it for our home now!

you have a BEAUTIFUL home!

Being a Malaysian who works in your neighbourhood, works for a Dutch company & loves Dutch design, i 'm really happy to be stumbling upon your blog ( via designsponge).

I echo Mithi's request ; if ever, you stumble upon good pieces here in KL or anywhere else in Malaysia, do highlight it as I have yet to come across a design resourse for the very small but growing Malaysian design scene.

That said, you have a wonderfully decorated apartment & that view is a killer. :)

I've been enjoying your blog for some time--it's one of my favorites! So many lovely images. I was entranced by the photos from your apartment--particularly inspiring is that stack of textiles from Vietnam. Must make a trip there some day! Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration...

Nina

Nice Irene! I was so curious about your home. You seem to be used to travel around the world a lot and live in different houses and countries. To me it sounds quite difficult to move every few years and leave everything behind, including a lovely home and your favorite homeware and furniture. It's a nice opportunity to redecorate a house on the other hand, but I would find it hard to leave my favorite stuff behind...
Btw I really like your studio!

So wonderful to see pictures of your apartment, and to learn more about your background and family. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Irene
I left a comment at D*, but I'm not sure it went through, so just wanted to say again how much I loved the tour of your houses. What beautiful spaces you and your husband have made for yourself, and thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for sharing - your places looks great- I love both your flat in Amsterdam - - and your place in KL. Well done and very brave of you to post pictures from your homes on designsponge!

Wow, both of your homes are beautiful. I'm particulary envious of your home in Amsterdam as I love that city so darn much and would love to experience time actually living there. I will be looking for residencies as soon as I finish uni I tell ya!

Anyway, back to your Amsterdam home - the clean lines and simplicity is really lovely. So spacious and 'airy' - really impressive!

Thank you for sharing Alicia Bock. Her work is beautiful.

I can't stop thinking about those textiles. There isn't any additional information about them, is there?

irene

Hi Courtney, thanks for your comment, the fabrics are from Vietnam, I bought them during a visit to Ho Chi Minh City. Soon I will write a weekend read about this city and tll you more about them and I probably will sell some of them in my Etsy shop. Irene
