Always when I visit LabourofHeart I see something truly amazing and inspirational. For instance the work by Heather Smith. Heather is a textile designer based in London. Having worked within fashion she has shifted her textile exploration to rigid industrial materials and now explores the possibilities of surface manipulation. These tiled walls are a combination of laser cut felt inlaid in plaster and partially finished with fire. Suitable for outdoor wall panels, the felt will potentially act as a platform for which organic matter (e.g moss) can grow. Amazing! Click here for more information.

Wall Art .. Wall Decor .. Canvas Art

I'm practically speechless with wonder! Absolutely incredible! I can only imagine how extraordinary the felt walls would look one taken with moss! Really wonderful! Thanks!

I´ve always considered, land art one of the most favourite and intriguing art forms, especially when it really manages to start a dialogue with the surroundings. The work of Heather Smith follows the tradition of land art with great success, and to my opinion brings new dimensions to it. As her work is placed in our daily environment, whether outside or in the house, it enables us to enjoy every day what we see or feel, instead of wondering some land art projects that are visible for a short period only, or can be seen in very distant or difficult accessible places.
This is truly refreshing, wonderful and has depth of thought. Put me on the list of her fans! Thanks for sharing this, Irene!
