Erika Pekkari

Erikapekkaris_

After buying the new curtains at IKEA yesterday I became curious who designed these…Erika Pekkari was the answer. Of course I had to look her up on the internet and I discovered a whole range of wonderful products she designed for IKEA. I think most of us will have something in our home designed by Erika without even actually knowing this. Check out her website and see if you can find your original “Erika Pekkari”…

IKEA

Ikea_2
{items we bought at IKEA, vase by Hella Jongerius, curtains by Erika Pekkari, table and chair for our son Lode and bench by Richard Clack}
Dear all: finally… this Friday we’re moving into our new place, it took a bit longer than expected (our goods were still stuck on a ship in the Malacca strait…) but now they are here and customs cleared all our stuff… so we’ve been traveling back and forth to the local Ikea to get the necessary basics…. it is so funny, making an exploratory visit to the Ikea is becoming part of our moving tradition… we’ve seen so many ikea’s around the world and somehow it is comforting to know we can buy the exact same set of tea towels in KL that we bought in Toronto… anyway it just made me laugh.. and feel at home.
Just to give you heads up… this Friday, Bloesem will feature a very special weekend read… it is a surprise… but I can tell you now that six of my favorite bloggers will be starring in this weekend read…. I am sure you will love it! So make sure to check out Bloesem on Friday…

Bookhou baby collection

Bookhou_baby

Yes…it’s there…Bookhou’s Baby collection. Arounna sent over a sneak peek of many more items to come in their baby collection and it’s looks beautiful! The mobile is made from laminated maple. The quilt is made from linen (the idea is that each quilt's patchwork band will be different and will have some printed images) the lining is cotton and so is the batting. Bookhou will also bring organic onesies and t-shirts with the animals printed on them in the near future. The pillows are 12 x 12 inches made from cotton canvas with a zipper closure.  The diaper on the go bag will have different front fabrics and are good for a few diapers and wipes. All items are available online AND there will be more items added!

Katie Muth

Katiemuth

During the By Hand artisans' wholesale show in Toronto this past January I met Katie Muth. Katie is an independent artist and she makes beautiful prints! Her lino-cut images represent things from her life that she cherishes most. Recently she added a new series of prints to her website. I liked to read this part of her website where you can exactly see how she makes her prints. {Thanks Katie}

Talented Dutch Designers

Jorineoosterhoff_2

You surely remember the beautiful porcelain fairytale tea party set by Jorine Oosterhoff. (Which you now can buy online Rose and Radish) More beautiful ceramic designs by Jorine  are these colored glue vases, two parts become one!

Fennaoosterhoff

Jorine sent me an email last weekend with some wonderful links to three Dutch designer websites. Among them is Jorine’s sister Fenna Oosterhoff, who recently graduated at ArteZ in Arnhem and these are the images of her graduation projects…very talented lady, don’t you agree?

Jozephineduker

Jozephine Duker is one of the three designers jorine introduced me to. The images are from her Biscuit-box that is standing on rubber paws, just like a real creature. The idea behind the tea set was to get emotionally attached to it by adding certain characteristic elements to it. Click here to browse Jozephine Duker’s website.

Willemvanlandeghem_2

Last (for today) but certainly not least is the very creative work by Willem van Landeghem. Willem is also a graduate from the product design department of Artez in Arnhem, during his study he did an internship at Sander Luske’s studio and studied abroad at UIAH in Finland.

Willemvanlandeghem1

All this experience shines through in Willem's beautiful ceramic products. Beer cups, perfume bottle, shaving set, wax-stamps and much more…. click here to see the collection. For buying information it’s best to send Willem van Landeghem an email.
