Wieki Somers

Tuesday, 12 June 2007 by Irene Hoofs

“Departed Glory” is one of Wieki Somers’ most recent designs which is exhibited in the Gemeente Museum (museum for contemporary art in The Hague) and part of the museum’s delftware collection. The vase is based on a traditional Dutch tulip vase with ceramic casts made from real tulips that are on the verge of dying…hence the name… it is shown in an exhibition called Vases with Spouts: Three Centuries of Splendour, along with other new vases created by fellow Dutch designers Ineke Hans and Jurgen Bey. Antoher post I wrote about Wieki Somers you can read here.
