TAF

Tafa4_a5_2

I’m so glad I found TAF from Stockholm. Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Ståhlbom have run the architecture and design studio TAF in Stockholm, Sweden since 2002. Their aim is to make ordinary life less ordinary through subtle but effective changes in how products and architecture appear and function. I think these beautiful Wastepaper Basket are a wonderful example of that. The paperbins are called A4 and A5.

The images above are stairs in a private residence in Stockhol which Gabriella and Mattias designed. Their website shows many more of their simple, elegant and superb designs. ps. don’t forget to take a look at the Cuckoo Clock.

How interesting, but I would hate to have stairs like that, it would make life difficult :P

wow...how interesting!I think I'd be a little nervous going down those everyday...

Gorgeous looking stairs, love the wood!

But I've gotta agree with the comments above. 'Have a nice trip' suddenly spring to mind :S

I love it, but I'm not one that can walk down normal stairs without tripping (or falling) so I imagine I'd never make it down these stairs. Ha! Imagine having the elderly family over and serving a few martinis. Then pointing them to the restroom upstairs. he he

Those steps are really cool. Though I have to agree (walking down those with laundry, having no railing, or even trying to run up them when someone is "paging" me from upstairs) and I might start regreting buying them. he he

freaking dangerous!!!!!

a perfect example of cruel thinking and bad design!!!!!

Egads! This is terrible. How did the designer talk the client into this? It's so dangerous and makes me feel drunk just looking at it. Can you imagine navigating these stairs in a pair of heels? This looks like an expensive mistake.

On the contrary! Since we walk on two legs, we usually climb stairs one step at a time using alternately our left and right foot. We actually need each step to support only one side.

Keeping in mind the steepness of the stairs, this one is relatively safe!
