This week on Bloesem...Holiday Shopping

I'm going to do to something else this week in preparations for the Holiday Season...a gift selection available at all the shops from the Bloesem sponsors...I think these great shops really deserve to be highlighted and to get our support, because they are the ones that make blogging for me (and many others) possible, which means I can give exposure to artists and their work and create a platform for the arts and crafts ... every day this week you will get to see really nice picks and my favorites from these online shops, I have chosen my picks carefully and I hope it will help you in choosing your gifts for this year...

So please let me start with Twig, Elizabeth the founder and owner wa on of the first who sponsored Bloesem and after almost 2 years still is! Cowhide rug, yes or no...

We are looking for some new carpets in our home and when I saw a cowhide rug the other day my husband's reaction was: 'no way we get a dead animal in our home'...and I agree this is not a nice idea (although he is certainly not vegetarian) but when seeing it again today in a room like this then I perhaps re-consider...what do you think? found via this nice thumblelog and the images come from this gorgeous shoot.

Studio Gorm

Peg, a flexible furniture system made up of simple components and it's soooo beautiful! Made by Studio Gorm...two former students of the design academy Eindhoven, John Arndt and Wonhee Jeong, have now set up their studio in Rotterdam...

...and I really love the #3 Chair too, so elegant, soft and clean looking. I think we will see a lot more of Studio Gorm in the near future.

Kiki&Polly

How about starting this week with some really nice art pieces by Lisa Golightly aka Kiki&Polly. I was just writing over at B:Kids that my baby boy is sick ... they call it Bronchiolitis ... so please understand not so much text this week, but I will show some really nice images and gift ideas here on Bloesem.

What a Treat...

The whole week I have been planning to show the work by Jane Foster ... I'm in a 'retro' vintage mood this week (will tell you why next week :) ... and she perfectly fits in. Her work is so cheerful, bright, graphically fantastic and what a treat this morning to visit her blog to see that she was showing images of her 'of course' gorgeous home....yummie yummie...i'm enjoying this!
Jane lives in Brighton and has a studio at home where she sews, designs and screen prints. And yes like she says herself she is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design. Particularly design from the 50's and 60's! Her website can be found here and her wonderful products and creations are available via her bigcartel shop! Right timing isn't it just before Christmas!

...yes the concert was AMAZING!! It was just unbelievable how this woman can sing. Everything was pure, real, honest and all I could ever wished for ...my love for Roberta Flack if for always...

During my blog sabbatical in the summer I often saw prints that I really liked, like the work from Dee Beale...her new dove print will be such a nice Christmas gift!  Here you can find Dee's blog and here her etsy shop.

A dream comes true...

...tonight I will see her ... listen to her voice ... her magic music ... I can't even begin to express myself of what this means to me! Her music is magic... my favorite ...will she sing it for us tonight?

A long time ago I told my husband when we were watching her live concert dvd at home that I could only dream of going to a concert of her and just by coincidence my husband saw a billboard yesterday about tonights concert. Can you believe there were still tickets left...???

Update :: I bought it, it arrived and it's so much more beautiful when you have it in your hands and I'm very happy I have choosen this calendar!!

Libby Ryan

I often find things for children that I like to write about on BloesemKids but the artist or designer also makes nice things for us...the moms and dads, so I have to show it here too... like Libby Anderson, who is a designer originally from Portland, Oregon but currently lives with her fiance and their dog Hudson in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Libby graduated from the School of Architecture at University of Oregon. Don't you just like this horse pattern on the pillow? For more about Libby and what she likes visit her blog.

Zig zag, a pincushion and measuring lint from Cocca in Japan...done in the most beautiful way you can think of.

 

I also liked this idea of creating your own wall-piece by covering a board with your favorite fabric and then put some artwork on it...I'm sure if you browse through cocca's website you will enjoy although the information will not be easy to read :) ...fashion, zakka, interior and more ...Cocca.

Living in Kuala Lumpur

No this is not the house where I live :) but ever since my husband and I landed here in Kuala Lumpur this incredible house intrigues us enormously! We often drive by 'the spaceship', as my husband and I like to call it, because our friends live nearby...of course from the road you can only see so much...so yesterday I thought I'm going to search on the internet for this property and it quickly popped up on my screen ... the CoolHunter recently wrote a post about the stunning residence and the architects who designed it...Paris-based Agence Jouin Manku.

...wouldn't it be nice if one day the family invites me over for a coffee so I can see this incredible place from within it's walls. I never expected it to be this big, because it's so modest and well done from the outside.

Rose Patate

Last week I was showing some of the fabulous things Rachel Peloquin designs for kids. But this creative lady from Paris also makes stunning designs for us grown-ups... her screenprints, patterns and handmade jewelry are according to me stunning! She calls herself Rose Patate and you can find her blog and shop right here...

To Dry For

I can't get enough of mice tea towels ... I regard them as beautiful printed peices of fabric  that I can decorate our home with ... I sometimes even use them to make pillows...so what nicer then to discover this website ... ToDryFor ... it specializes in designer tea towels. What is there not to Love...

I told you about how I wished I could go to the Dutch Design Week this year, but this morning I was already happy browsing through the incredible work by Lenneke Wispelwey, who together with Paula Arntzen, is showing her porcelain and paper designs during this event.... wowo...everything Lenneke makes is just stunning and a feast for the eye ...I started with her 'flower me' (vases) series and have sent an email to Lenneke immediately to see if she can ship this vase overseas :) ...

Then I clicked on Lenneke's 'buttons' ...and was stunned again by the beauty I saw...the buttons are available here and here...

and ohh how could I have missed these 'cakestands' series last year... Lenneke, thank you for creating your beautiful things for us!

I'm currently overwhelmed with all the gorgeous French connections I found online ... with my non-excisting French it pretty hard to understand it all, but with some help from translator I' do know that Melanie Brument is the author of the blog petit petit and here she shows her incredible work, ceramics and textiles, found via this blog from French children's label Les Petits Choses ...

Some of Melanie's pieces are available via this super nice website and yes packed with stunning work from French designers, will show more artists during the next few days of course...L'Histoire a Tiroirs.

DOS Family

I don't know about you, but I feel that there is an explosion of new blogs lately ... at least once a day a new blog is being presented to my eyes and some of them are just to good to be true ... like Dos Family ... wow this truly is eye-candy. And what I really like about this gorgeous blog is the fact that most images are taken by the authors themselves. Jenny, Staffan and Isabelle, all from Sweden, visited houses they like, take images and create spectacular posts for us ...

DOS Family is definetly my Favorite new blog! ...of course I have invited them to come and visit our house :)...!

Via this nice blog, i found this nice blog and there I found this nice blog and wow then I saw these images I just had to tell you why I like them so much ...
first of all I noticed these chairs ... and how I love these “Safari Chairs”, they were designed by N. Eilerson marked made in Denmark. And for the longest time I'm looking for a beautiful wall piece like the one in the right image...Juli and John are the authors of Kitkadesign and they live in Toronto (i wish they already had their blog when I was living in there too) ... one of their recent projects wat the renovation and decorationg of their cottage ...

L’Atelier Beau Travail and Claire Leina

L’Atelier Beau Travail sent me an email telling me that they are extending their beutiful exhibition till Saturday ...if you live or visit Paris this week, please visit!!

Via the exhibition images on their blog I found the work by Claire Leina. A french textile and graphic designer based in South of France and yes you probably noticed the Mushroom trend ... but her pattern is one of the best I have seen so far. Claire also has a great blog ... please say Hi for me!

I just love it when a simple idea is being executed so very nicely ...these little notebooks are simply fantastic! Perhaps a title Archie should add :: bloggers I met and liked ... you can buy them here, they will look fantastic on a mantel and are very nice gifts.

Ginko papers

An online shop packed with Japanese paper goodies ... yes I Like it! I truly didn't know that you can buy superfun orange peelers like this cute bird or 'rice-bal' erasers and there are whole sushi eraser sets :) I'm  a person who can really enjoy simple objects being displayed in a clean and crispy  way like these Mini Capsule Colored Pencils, they make any desk look nicer! Yep if you are looking for original paper products I can highly recommend Ginko papers to you...

Envelop

An email from Serge yesterday really caught me eye ... he is the brain-kid behind Envelop ... an online print-on-demand platform where illustrators can create, promote and sell there own designed cotton items, like pillow-covers, napkins, bags,  oven gloves and aprons ... all you have to do is download the product templates of textile items in order to customize them...submit your design and after being approved as a contributing designer you can start selling your items at Envelop ... for me as a buyer it's a fantastic place to buy one-of-a-kind and uniqye designer pieces!

Joy reminded me of the gorgeous fabrics from Umbralla Prints the other day and I just had to show them too here on Bloesem....the prints are soooo beautiful and I am now hooked on Amy's blog here and Carly's blog here ...

Repeat

You probably have seen the work from the new studio Repeat ... a collaboration between Roisin Fagan from bespoke uprising and Arounna Khounnoraj from Bookhou. Repeat was created out of their shared interest and love for patterns and hand printed textiles.

I ordered a remnant bag from Repeat (it arrived and it's really nice) but please have a look here to see the Repeat collection and here to see the gorgeous badges! I believe these two talented Candadian ladies only just started showing us a small bit of their talents and I can't wait to see more products from them in the future ... please keep surprising us!
